foad01: Do they even exist anymore?

MarkoH01: If they would not exist anymore in some kind or form GOG would not be able to give the game away.
I sent an email to info@dreadlocks.cz and requested the release of the missing patch 7.0.0.0 Maybe it helps if you and others also ask for it. In case they answer I will post it here.

I did contact them in 2020 via Facebook, they replied and then they decided to ignore me. I am not willing to be treated this way. Also, it is GOGs responsible to care for ther customers and THEY should educate their "partners" until they are actually woth being called partners.

Are you sure here? Read this thread here:

https://www.gog.com/forum/dex/is_patch_70_coming_to_gog/post11

This is basically what I read as well. I can't find the source anymore where I read it though. It was also mentioned that they are developing a new game:

https://www.gog.com/forum/dex/is_patch_70_coming_to_gog/post12

But exactly this game is the abandoned game on Kickstarter. Looks like someone just took the money here.

There could be something which happened in the background. Maybe the studio itself doesn't exist anymore but there is still one person or a group who has the copyrights of the games.

Good luck. I tried contacting them months ago and never received a reply.

It does not work this way. GOG has a contract with a certain publisher and as long as the contract exists the publisher can allow GOG to put certain games on sale or give them away for free. IF the publisher is changing new contraccts need to be signed as well. In that case however the publisher on the gamecard would change as well - which did not happen. Without a new contract with the new publisher it is impossible for GOG to give away a certain game without getting in legal trouble.

Agreed and I do know how you must feel being ignored ... I am the last person to go chase after developers/publishers to ask or demand missing patches/updates/DLC, so this is a rare exception.

GOG taking care and keeping us updated, GOG protecting regular and new customers, that's how it's supposed to be. They are listening now but until they finally start to act for the benefit of their customers, taking care of developers/publishers bad business practice, this is all anyone who feels up to it can do. It's GOG we're doing business with and not publishers and developers, so this is as much their duty to make sure we receive timely patches/updates and DLC as customers shopping at Steam. And even they got no guarantee to receive any such things, because some developers just release games, take the money and run ...

MarkoH01: [...] GOG being the one store known for "many games stay unupdated and you can never be sure that this does not happen with the game YOU just purchased"?
Sadly, this isn't true. Humble and itch both seem to have have at least as many cases as GOG (proportionally, anyway) of direct-download versions being out of date -- in some cases never having been updated since their release there. I'd be willing to bet this is also the case with recent games on even smaller shops like FIreflower and Zoom Platform (to the extent that Zoom even has recent games).

That still does not make my statement untrue. Many games are out of date and people know. I never said that GOG is the only store that has unupdated games, I only said that they are known for it and that's a fact.

Edit: okay "the one" store might be interpreted as the only one ... sorry, my bad, I did not mean it in this way.

You are right.

GOG lists Dreadlocks Ltd as the publisher. It could also be the case that they just exist on the paper without actual devs. Nevertheless, there is something fishy going on here. Whatever it is.

Their site also pretty much is online
https://en.dreadlocks.cz/

Regarding the abandoned kickstarter ... it does not seem to be the first time that the game has been cancelled on kickstarter. They brought it back to kickstarter in 2016 if I read their sire correctly.

Yes, the last activity on their website was 2017!

They have been radio silent with all their projects. It is not just here where the people complain about them.

This is the last activity of their mobile team.

I'm pretty sure foad's idea has merit. Remember when the Descent games were pulled from GOG because the publisher hadn't paid royalties (or whatever) to the developer? The developer hadn't existed for years at that point, except on paper, as a means for the owners of the games' code and assets to receive payments per their contract with the publisher.
Also, just because a game's developer and publisher fields say certain things, it doesn't mean that those things are necessarily 100% true. If I recall correctly, Arx Fatalis used to be listed as being self-published on GOG, but it was apparently sort of "shadow-published" by Bethesda (which, by now, has been actually listed as publisher for a long time).
EDIT: Fixed an embarrassing misspelling.

Thanks for another freebie!

Somebody could start a boycott thread for those boycotting over missing updates, if they want.

Enebias: You know what is too much!? THESE CLICKBAIT TITLES!

Dex is a very good game though. Again, great choice in gifted games... too bad it mirrors my own, so I already have all of them.
U're a clickbait title
