in short, some beings sneaking around, grabbing naked codes and selling accounts on the black market.

Oh, I see... That makes sense... Profiting off of others kindness... Smart, yet douchebaggy...

Codes being thrown out in the forum have encouraged people to flock here just to get them, which wouldn't be a problem but several of them are less than honest. We have people showing up and creating multiple accounts just to snag them and and any other freebie they can get their hands on regardless of the means. Whats worse is they then use those multiple accounts to harass the rest of the forum and slowly degenerate it.

What's even worse than that now is people have started getting paranoid, witch hunts have started, and honest people are getting shit on in the wake of the assholes who only showed up to get free stuff.

Geesh... Almost makes you want to not give away free stuff!! haha... Not worth giving away if I have to spend time setting up some stupid contest and then evaluating who is genuine by reading all of their crap... What do you suggest for the future?

Well I tell people I have a code and let them PM me. Problem is I live in here so I know who's honest and who isn't. You probably have a life so that won't work for you. ;P

haha... I don't know if I would go as far to say that I have a life, but my free time is certainly limited... :-p Maybe next time I get some free codes I will send them to you to distribute! :-)

Many people use the "well-known scammers list", if you search GOG forums you should easily find it - it's maintained by good GOGers and most people on that list are indeed scammers who just collect codes and don't participate in the forums.

Also most of them have accounts from 2015, so esp. any summer account with low rep is usually a scammer. Not all of them, as there was a large influx of new people because of the Witcher 3, but you can usually easily tell by checking that list and if they're not on the list, just quickly put the person's name in the forum search box - if they have posts where they actually talk on the forums about stuff with others, then they're not scammers. :)

Btw some of them because of alt accounts have high rep (I think one had about 600), so when you give out keys via PMs, just double-check if they are not on the list. But in any case, the main thing is your good intent, so don't worry about it too much, just use the list and give keys by PMs, not dropping codes. Welcome to the forums btw! Hope you like it here! :)
