I have recently started to play this game and am stuck trying to get a cocktail from the wine merchant. Apparently I need a code wheel that came with the original game to get the cocktail name. However, none came with the download from GOG. Does anyone know how to get a wheel or otherwise solve the puzzle please?

You can try a few walkthroughs, e.g.

If it still needs it, then file a ticket with gog as they should provide it.

Are you sure there is nothing to download in extras? I don't have this game but I assume there would be outrage in reviews and forum if it was incomplete (although seems like barely anyone played it).

There are some people on the steam forums also asking about the code wheel.
Apparently it has been patched already, so there must be some way to bypass the puzzle.

So, what's the verdict? Can someone who owns the game check, whether the code wheel is part of the extras if the game or has been patched out. Or whether indeed the old copy protection is still active and not circumventable?

According to the game review by neumi5694 on the game page, it should be patched out:
At some points in the original version of the game a code wheel (like in Monkey Island) was used for copy protection, but that patched out at some point.

I have the game on gog and didn´t play it but haven´t seen a code wheel in extras (there is nothing).

I played recently the GOG version of Ankh 2 and no code was requested. I just asked for the cocktail and the wine merchant gave it.

That sounds like it was patched out. Like the code wheel check in monkey island, where every answer is correct. Perhaps the patching out was incomplete though and what the OP experienced was a bug.
