Darvond: So Japanese styled animation based games. Just to make that clear from the get-go in case someone wants to argue that Avatar: The Last Airbender isn't anime. It is largely influenced by, and animated as anime. Dead or Alive Extreme Beach Vollyball, in spite of being produced in Japan, it
not quite anime styled.

They largely have a bad stigma.
And for many of you reading, I can't blame you. For every Cowboy Beebop there's an Xenoblade.
You know the drill. Grooming behavior, pretending to not be perverse while hiding distributing implications (Other M, some latter day Fire Emblem games), the first shot of a female character being a pantyshot, etc. That's only grazing the Marina's Trench of annoying tropes.
But they're not all like that. You got Chrono Trigger, Breath of the Wild, Secret of Mana, and other crown jewels of breathtaking interactive art.
In this thread, I have a small handful of questions as discussion points.
1) What anime styled game do you consider the best?
2) Do you like anime styled games in general?
3) Which trope/idea do you feel is the worst?
4) On GOG, what is the most anime game you've played? (Optional.)
As my listing stated, I'm clearly a fan of the classics, and Secret of Mana for the many flaws it has, is an absolute gem of a time. I'm biased, because I got it during a formative time of my life.
I do like anime style games. (I wouldn't have made this thread otherwise.)
The worst idea (to my books) is the Loli Appeal. I didn't namedrop Xenoblade just to casually call it out, as I recently learned there is an android character (Poppi) based on the design of an underage girl, whose various modes are pointed after the naming conventions of grooming various age groups. (JK business)
As for anime styled games on GOG, there's not really many I've played. I've got my eyes on Momodora, though.
I really like anime, but I'm not a big fan of anime games, I tried several JRPG, but those games have a lot of grinding and secret encounter that make them repetitive and boring for me, I like more the story when is not beind artificial length....
For me the best among the games I have played is Steins;Gate, visual novel are pure focus on the story and that make it really good. I think the worst topic in anime are the annying characters, there is at least one in every anime, apparently japanese people like this kind of characters, I just tolerate them.
