Alderamin on the Sky - It's a war drama type show about 4 people headed off for a high level officer exam (plus one lazy slacker) when their ship sinks. It's pretty realistic. if you exclude the little spirit guys everyone has. Nice visuals and doesn't shy away from the results of war time decisions and what incompetent officers can do to a military force.
Watched Kantai Collection which I enjoyed overall though I feel the ending kind of went over my head without really being a Japanese battleship history buff. It was still nice lighthearted comedy :)

I rather liked Oshiete! Galko chan, it's very short with 12 7-minute episodes but if you're looking to finish something straight away or want a small break inbetween something else it fills the spot nicely

Agreed, it was lovely.

The best thing were the voiced sound effects. I finally know the sound of smugness now.
Ah right, forgot to mention that I just finished wathing the entirety of Kaiji.
Great anime.
I'll have to read the manga to continue though.
A few nice anime i have watched lately:

<span class="bold">Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend</span>
<span class="bold">Vampire Princess Miyu</span> + <span class="bold">OVA</span>
<span class="bold">Durarara!!</span>
<span class="bold">Techno Police 21C</span>
<span class="bold">MM!</span> (Great ecchi-comedy - highly recommended!)
Finished the newest season of gintama :> 10/10 more feels than laughs in this one though

I wanna try Gintama but there's so much of it. :l

Watching Hajime no Ippo.
Love the manga, the anime is great too. (at least the first 20 episodes I've seen are great)

There's really much of it yea but most of gintama episodes are 20 minutes of gags which are completely irrelevant story wise. Actually i've watched the second season of gintama first by mistake and i didn't really notice it untill after i finished it xD So my advice is hop in, watch 2-3 episodes from whatever season and see if you like it :p

I haven't gotten back into the Gintama anime, because I read the manga regularly, and now I have no idea which episode I stopped on. Every episode I check looks familiar because I already know what's going to happen.

And yes, Mushishi is awesome. Kind of like a Japanese X-Files. Natsume Yuujinchou is great as well, sort of in the same vein, but with a lighter tone and a more contemporary setting.

I've been going on an anime binge lately, and finally caught up with some shows that I missed the past few years. I absolutely loved Parasyte - The Maxim. It can be disturbing, disgusting, emotionally devastating, thought-provoking, and even funny at times. but. This has become one of my all-time favorites.

On the other hand, if you want a feel-good story, Ore Monogatari had me smiling pretty much all the way through.

Are there any new anime in the coming season (looks like quite a few of the current onesare finishing/finished shortly) where there is some sort of coherent storyline??. A lot of the current crop either don't seem to have one or end after 12-13 eps (i quite enjoyed Re: Zero etc and Berserk. Macross (dont get me started on Gundam....) i loved back in the day but why do new iterations always follow a similar formula??)

Digimon Tri: Confession was just released this past weekend. If you considered yourself a fan of the old anime, I definitely suggest watching this newest iteration of the series. It's really quite rewarding to see how much the characters have grown and changed following the end of Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure 02

Honestly, words just cannot express how much I recommend watching Digimon Tri.
