You haven't watched ERASED ? I don't usually watch ongoing anime, but that one is probably gonna be my best this year.

Right Erased, I liked it. (as did my mum)
I meant currently airing.

I enjoyed erased but I wouldn't classify it as one of my favourites.

Watched it and I honestly don't understand the hype around it. It was certainly above average, but most of the 'gimmick' they show is pointless throughout most of the series.

I second Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress for this season so far. Haven't found anything else yet so far that has me particularly excited. (but still a lot to watch)

The "gimick" wasn't the point of the show to begin with...

Handling the gimmick properly would've been nice though. :P
The show really needed more episodes.
It felt like characters didn't get enough character development.

The action scenes and music. :3
Especially in the latest episode.

kalirion: Konosuba was pretty great as well, a hilarious "stuck in MMO-like world" counterpoint to Grimgar's seriousness.
I actually watched Konosuba ("God's Blessing on this Wonderful World" I think is the actual title) and I surprisingly liked most of it especially how certain jokes are not just done only to get forgotten like in most comedies but actually "snowball" into the main narrative like a certain conversation that gets taken out of context in the beginning that results in a primary character, a masochist, joining the party.

Also, the concept of "gifting the world with explosions."

omega64: Boku No Hero Academia
Came for the frog girl, stayed for the feels.

A teenage shounen has no right to make me feel like this.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry".

Konasuba is short for the full title:
Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!

It really surprised me.
Didn't really like the first episode, but everything after that has been great so far.

I never liked Erased but Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress is the stand out one of the current season . Rest feels like fillers -- this is from someone who is less high brow than most about anime i like......

Agreed - Boku No Hero Academia grew on me after a very ordinary first Ep...

No Macross Delta? --- > this is ok but its more of the same formula from series past....if anything doesn't feel as good.

anyone know whats happened to the second season of Attack on Titan? (and whether there is a 2nd season of Space Battleship Yamato 2199 in the works?).

Does anyone know a late 80s, early 90s ultra-violent (or so I remember it) anime about samurai-like dudes in a Medieval Japan setting where a dude gets cut across the face with a sword as a kid (maybe his family died too) and then grows up and goes on a revenge mission against the dude that did it? I'm really trying to find out what that was. Thanks to anyone who is able to help.

Ninja Scroll, maybe? Are you looking for a series or a movie?

A movie. I watched it as kid, circa 93-94. Considering the complicated process of getting foreign media to Brazil at the time, it was probably made at least 2 years earlier or more.

Not sure of the plot but there was a samurai based anime movie with Samuel L Jackson as one of the lead voices. Cant rightly remember the name of the movie off the top of my head -- one of the charachters is bent on revenge... wears a teddy bear head armor at some point...
name was Afro Samurai (2009) -- probably bit later than what your asking lol..

tv series come movie..
