I finally watched Fullmetal Alchemist (the original, the movie, Brotherhood). Three years ago I've been recommend this series for the first time. Back then, I was watching Monster, a good friend said I should watch Fullmetal Alchemist since he enjoyed it so much, and I also recommend him Monster, but both of us ended up forgetting about it, and recently, after 3 years of mostly short titles (12-24 episodes), we both started watching Fullmetal Alchemist and Monster....at long last.

I once asked the same I got plenty of good replys.. you know what I've been watching? One piece. I'll have to google why there is that shonen jump before but I've grown to love those pirate bastards.

Ghost in the shell animated series.. i liked that. I liked voice actors even it was dubbed.

i usually don't watch 'currently airing' anime because i can't stand to wait to watch the next episode. but this one:

The Town Where Only I am Missing / Boku dake ga Inai Machi

is simply brilliant i broke my own rules. really recommend it, got deep mystery and twisted plot, can't stop watch when you start :D

- Psycho Pass: Season 1 (technically self-contained, not need to watch the rest if you don't want the story getting knocked down a notch later on)
- Fate Zero (again, unfortunatelly, can't wholeheartedly recommend the sequels, but the prequel is very solid)
- Attack on Titan (so far)
- Rose of Versaille (watched it as a kid, re-watched it as an adult and found I still liked it... depressing as hell, but very solid plot)

With some reservation:

- Steins;Gate (if you can get over the fact that the protagonist is a complete goof and that the romance feels somewhat teeny, it's still great)
- Inuyasha (mostly good, has some lengths and repetitions: could have condensed the plot in 3-4 seasons instead of 8)
- Samurai Chaploo (japanese samurai meets the hood: I like, but it's probably not for everyone)
- Psycho Pass: Season 2 (still redeemable, but season 1 was so much better)
- Death Note (nice cat and mouse plot, but spin it whichever way you like, the protagonist is a total self-absorbed pr*ck and you're pretty much stuck following the narrative of someone you'd like to just smack the living daylight out of)
- Knight of Sidonia (intriguing, but very weird at times and too much of a 'every female wants to be his gf' situation around the protagonist and many of the females that surround him)
- Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit (some of the moments between Balsa and the kid feel forced, but still pretty good)

Expected to like, but was disapointed by:

- Fullmetal alchemist (protagonist too boyish and stereotypical anime protagonist for my taste... had a bit of a Dragonball feel about it which I personally didn't appreciate)
- Black Butler (spoiled brat orders his superhuman servant around and lets him do 99% of the work, but I got to say that some scenes in the final episodes were cool however like the final confrontation in S1 which is ironically one of my favorite scenes in animes despite how I feel about the series in general)
- Sword Art Online (the teenage factor among the protagonists was too high for me... they are not ready for sex, but they feel ready to adopt a kid... sure, whatever... that's the order it happens in RL right?)

You should avoid [url=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harem_(genre)]harem anime[/url]... 'every female wants to be his gf' is more-or-less a description of the genre. ;)

Agreed it's great, villain was a bit predictable but ah well.
Even got my mum to watch it. :P

They can be fun though. :o
Just don't watch too many of them and probably avoid Nisekoi as that'll never end.

How about some bad or plain average anime with really good openings/ending songs?


Neptune☆Sagashite It's Nep-Nep: The Anime either you like it or you don't, but this song is just so damn catchy

Sankarea Opening It's not a bad anime, in fact i like it but was really disappointed that it went nowhere despite the interesting premise, the pacing is also really bad especially when the manga doesn't fail so hard at it

Super Sonico: The Animation I don't even know why I like this song, i usually hate stuff similar to it. I guess the anime is kind of a poor man's k-on but with tits instead of eyebrows.

No Game No Life ending I feel kind of meh about the anime, the best thing about it were all those trippy colours for me, and the ending.


Monster Musume Opening and Ending Embrace the degeneracy.

Original Digimon series (Non dubbed) - This may be silly but undubbed Digimon series is really different than the dub ones to the point you will say how the US dub ruined it. Even if you saw the dub one, i still suggest you to watch the original ones.

Just don't watch the anime version of Xros Wars, read the manga one instead.

Hokuto No Ken - What do you get if ya put Bruce Lee who learned a superhuman martial art in a post-apocalyptic world? The most glorious franchise ever. While the anime one from 80s is good, the manga version has an extended story, which the anime version doesn't include.

Tsukihime - Tense, weird and good Even to the point it gained a video game and a new franchise called Melty Blood, which continues where Tsukihime left off.

Ashita No Joe - Hajime No Ippo has nothing to this one. In fact, without that franchise, HnI wouldn't exist.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure - Weird and crazy stuff with faaabulous men doing faaaaabulous poses. while fighting some unnatural stuff.

Yaiba - If you like Dragon Ball, but want less martial arts and more sword fighting, give this one a go.
