Last Air Bender is one of my favorite shows. I have all DVDs and also watched "Legend of Korra" and loved it. Still the original Avatar is the best. However, I never concidered it as Anime because it doesnt have the gothic and dark humor most Animes have.

I admit, there were times I looked at the sea and imagined myself bending the water. :)

In my humble opinion Elfen Lied and Hellsing are more gory than horror...

Gothic and dark humour that most anime have? xD
That might just be the kind of anime you prefer watching.

I dont watch anime. I tried watching a few like Death note or some others i cant remember but they were all about killing and magic and destruction. Only Full Metal Alchemist got my attention which i watched to the end.

So sorry if I said something wrong. I should have said "most animes that I have watched have"

No problem. :)
You might want to watch Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood if you watched the original.
So last night I decided to go ahead and check out Ergo Proxy since it was at the ready. I ended up watching 3 episodes, beginning with the first of course, and it was actually interesting. I plan to watch 3 more tonight and each night until I've completed the series. But I really like the mood it has. I look forward to seeing the rest.

I agree. But what would be a more horror and less gory anime? Perfect Blue?

Neon Genesis Evangelion succeeds in both.

Yes, it does. I have only seen the classics.
However, I think the gore drives many people out. I know I would prefer if they toned it down a little.
Gakkou Gurashi if you want something that deconstructs the moe genre.
HunterXHunter for great Shonen action
Baby Steps and Yowamuchi Pedal for awesome sports anime
Jitsu Wa Watashi Wa for good comedy

Don't forget Kuroko no Basket. :)

Forgot about that one.
And Gintama! Should never forget Gintama.

FoxbodyMustang: Will do. Might be another week or so before I can check out anything new though. I'm close to my bandwidth limit for the month. I hate limits. 3D movies are massive, but cool. But I've noted the ones people have recommended.

I'm assuming these recommendations are in English or at least have English subtitles available?

Geralt_of_Rivia: He was laughing when he recommended that. Ninja Slayer is pretty crappy.
...
it's scrappy, yes. but it's got style and tvtropes overload.

A movie that shows lots of gore is a horror movie by definition. To be more precice it belongs to the Splatter subgenre.

A splatter film or gore film is a subgenre of horror film that deliberately focuses on graphic portrayals of gore and graphic violence. These films, through the use of special effects, tend to display an overt interest in the vulnerability of the human body and the theatricality of its mutilation.
Finished Dusk Maiden of Amnesia. Above mediocre, but wouldn't recommend unless you really have nothing else to watch.
