MiKiL: the silence
Yea, I'm not that active anymore. I've been spending a significant amount of time on one game in particular and depending on an upcoming announcement, I might get back to another game that I've neglected for a long time now. Either way, I won't be posting much after this but I know this thread is in good hands. You're maintaining it well enough! *thumbs up* =)

So, a few rankings, news and videos before I go.

Comiket 92 opens in less than two hours. And in a couple of hours, Touhou 16 - Hidden Star in Four Seasons will be all over the internet for play. Which means everything to me.

For this occasion, you could watch me beat the Extra boss of Touhou 15 which I happened to conveniently have it finished uploading before the event starts.
I know I'm pretty much a broken record but I kinda had to post about this.

Nozomi is kickstarting an english dub for their BD release of Aria the Animation.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/160939828/lets-dub-aria-the-animation/description

I'm not a dub person, but anything that allows more people to enjoy Aria gets my support. Seems I'm not alone as the KS has been going pretty well.
Kiseijuu - Sei no Kakuritsu (2014)
Saw parasyte, very awesome anime, loved it through the beginning and all the way to the end, though the 2 first episode that pssttt sound was pretty weird choice of sound and funny.
If you haven't seen it and can stand some gore then watch it.
What is this, I don't even..

J.J. Abrams to turn acclaimed sci-fi anime Your Name into a live action film (theverge)

-- "J.J. Abrams and Paramount Pictures have announced they’ll be turning the critically acclaimed Japanese anime Your Name into a live-action film. Abrams’ production company Bad Robot and Paramount will work with Toho, the company that produced the original film."

I guess Abrams is just waiting to add his trademark lens flares.. X-/

Today I finished Neon Genesis Evangelion. I have yet to see the movie that comes after but plan on doing so at some point. I think its pretty entertaining and it does touch on some things that are very ture, like the damage that pride causes or how the people closest to you show the sides to them they would otherwise hide. Being a Christian, I'm a little suspicious of the show's use of religious symbolism, its weird and I'm not sure if its necessary (of course, there are many, more disturbing themes on offer). I recommend only watching it if you can handle themes of anxiety, 'cause the later episodes have a lot of those and it can rube off on you if your not careful.

As for the last two episodes, I had a decent idea of what to expect and was not struck by the cheap look they had. I thought it was smart that they forcused on Shinji so that if the series ended there they could say "At least we wrapped up Shinji's arc." I think there is still some true things said here, like how loving yourself plays a role in loving others, but there are also some hints of relativism. I suppose you could read the statements regarding there being different realities as there being diffent possible outcomes for your future, that would be true enough. But, I would take the last episodes' morals with a grain of salt.

So yeah... its alright

A lot of Japanese sci-fi (and maybe fantasy) novels, some of which were adapted into anime.
"In a perfect world, we wouldn't hear anything they had to Buynba2k say and we could just worry about what our game plan is, but Nba live mobile coins obviously, that's not possible," Steph Curry said. "But you have to have a collective mindset that we know they're going to make adjustments.

IIRC the creators used the religious symbolism for not reason other than "it makes it look cool."

Definitely watch End of Evangelion movie, but be aware that there is much more disturbing things in it...
So I just saw The End of Evangelion.

It's like the tv ending but... reversed... In the last episode of the show, Shinji finally found peace but most of the plot was left unresolved. In the movie, all the plot points seem to be tied up but now Shinji is still depressed as heck. I guess he kinda learned that there is inherent value in people being indiviuals and not a singular collective mass (which is true, I applaud that). Overall, Shinji just gives the movie a mean-spirited feel.

Besides that, it was confusing. Looks like I have some explanatory videos to watch...

EDIT: Alright, after digging a little I see that both movie and the show have a good amount of hidden meaning. I don't plan on re-watching the whole series anytime soon, but I appraciate the meticulous storytelling on display. So nice job on that Anno.

Finally decided to educate myself and got The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Funimation boxset, started watching in 2009 rebroadcast order (I know there are other orders but decided to go with rebroadcast one).

Little Busters! English Edition was released and is still ~2 days -20% off.

And found out that Touhou Tenkuushou ~ Hidden Star in Four Seasons is going to be released in steam 18th November. 'English language not supported' is mentioned in infos.

Just want to say I like your choice of the word "educate". =)

Oh, and let me know how you feel about Endless Eight when you're done.

Aaaand it's finally over (whole series).

"Kyon-kun denwa!"

Not going too much to it in case of spoilers,
I actually laughed at the end of Endless Eight instead of raging at it like others have done. Well played.. X-D
It did feel quite long but KyoAni didn't do it too "lazy way" using same "camera angles/scenes" all the time.

"Kyon-kun denwa!"

Animation quality overall was quite good considering it's 11 years from season 1 and 8 years from season 2.
KyoAni has always been good consistent quality, at least what I've seen.

For XMAS I got Haibane Renmei box waiting. It's been n+1 years since I saw it so now is good time to refresh the memories. :-)

Fonzer:
I was going through some of the older posts and it looks like your question was never answered? The anime actually covered more than half of the manga but the whole series is pretty short, around 26 chapters, and they only had the first 3 volumes as source material when making the anime at the beginning, so a lot of stuff was added in just for the anime to fill up all the episodes. The few sub-par episodes near the end is the result of this, which is a pity, everything before that was good. As for its anime vs manga, it's actually hard to compare this one. The anime tries to be scientifically accurate for the most part but there are parts in manga that is nearer to the realms of supernatural than science.
