It always amused me how one of my most favourite animes of all time's target audience is a shojo :D

It's sad that the manga version ran into publishing issues and never got finished. At least there's the tv series version because the oav movie was pretty awful.

Besides X/1999, the only other shojo I can say that I liked was Magic Knight Rayearth and Revolutionary Girl Utena. The only shonen anime I can I say that I enjoyed was Death Note. (I like JoJo's Bizarre Adventure for the art, but I've never seen it or read the manga.)

The oav is indeed subpar but who cares when we have the series.

Death Note was pretty awesome. I remember how much I enjoyed it way back when the manga had just started coming out. In fact so much so that a friend of mine and I were translating it for local scene. The anime was also pretty good but the manga was top shelf.

I love JoJo - it's absurdly over the top but in a way I happen to enjoy very much. I haven't read the manga, only seen the anime up to Josuke's entrance which I don't like as much but maybe it'll grow on me.

My favourite shonens are One Piece which is likely my second most favorite anime of all time, the original Shaman King and Hunter X Hunter (I've seen everything from the original animation and read everything from the manga and am now watching the more recent 2011 series with my kids who also love it). My top anime ever also tends to get tagged as shonen every now and again but I don't really agree with that - the original Trigun. I hope they won't botch the upcoming one as Badlands wasn't that good. Fingers crossed.


Oh, I also watched a bit of that very long time ago but I had to stop for whatever reason and later was told by a bunch of people the anime goes to shit pretty much right after that point so I never picked it up again. Maybe it's time...

I actually, do not own much in terms manga -- Clamp no Kiseki, AKIRA, Death Note, Battle Angel Alita, Baron: The Cat Returns, All You Need is Kill, Magic Knight Rayearth, and Sorcerous Stabber Orphen. That's it.

When it comes to anime, I haven't seen a whole lot either.

I really am more of a video game dork.

Clamp no Kiseki is the 12-volume series that came with three chess pieces with each volume that were based on Clamp anime/manga. I used to use the chess pieces as stand-ins for literally every board game (and they did make some board games bearable), until my mom got a bit rough with Seishiro (see attached.) Since getting the entire series took more effort than I'd like to admit, the figures got retired and hang out together in a display cabinet. I was going to consider bring them out again for board games again during COVID... except that my mom broke the home button her iPad. Nope, they're staying retired for now.

That's 8 more than I own.
