PookaMustard: but you chose nothing
I know, sorry.
I wouldn't be able to participate. With the last game it was perfect storm where I had enough interest and time to take part, but unless something changes it won't be earlier than January when I should have time to take part again.

Catventurer: I'm not sure when you're playing to start, so I thought I should mention it now.

There's going to be extreme heat in upcoming days and warnings of upcoming flex alerts, Monday and Tuesday especially. If people don't comply and cut back on energy use during flex alerts, there can be rolling black outs. -_-
Don't worry about it, game won't start that soon. Especially with the pace of signups I got. Instead, you should worry about getting through that heat wave!

It's going to be awful. There's going to be an excessive heat warning in effect from Saturday morning to Tuesday evening, with temperatures that can go up to 115F (46.1C)

The only good thing is that things can get hot here, so we do have air conditioning.

Catventurer: 46.1C
This is fucking horrific. If only we didn't insist on cooking the planet hard. Stay safe!

I'm going to make a short trip to pick up some food items that won't require cooking (salads) or minimal cooking (fresh pasta) then staying home until Wednesday. I already rescheduled an appointment next week on Tuesday to avoid going anywhere.

Holy shit that's hot (conversion appreciated BTW)! I struggle with 25C, but then I don't know anyone here who has air conditioning so if it's that hot here then it's really that hot.

If you look at the horrifying heat timeline, I'm in the valley area.

https://www.weather.gov/sto/

If we get lucky, a delta breeze will occur. This is when cold air from the Pacific Ocean gets pulled up the delta and along the Sacramento River to cool off the region. People with whole house fans really benefit as it will really cool down your house but even without one, I can open all the doors from free AC from nature. (I have metal security doors to keep the cats in and strangers out.)

Yeah, same. If only it was easy to convert from Fahrenheit on the fly.

I'm used to some especially horrendous days. None were remotely close to 46C though.

Do you live near the coast? Hot and humid, that is the worst.

Yes, in the end, places and people used to high temperatures have a better time when a heat wave hits, way better than other places where that is unusual.

Warloch_Ahead: How does this work? I have to work until the afternoon, and I can't be bothered to look at GOG forums every waking hour.
avatar
my name is grompy catte: Oh, you definitely don't need to check every waking hour. The game is usually played over several weeks because we have quite a span of timezones, but it doesn't require much time per day.
The bare minimum required for participation was even less, right? Like a post every two or three days. Although of course it is better if people can be more present, lest people think they are l̶u̶r̶k̶i̶n̶g̶ busy.

Nice! Will do. The titles of the chapters are intriguing. The one about the lottery economy especially. Will have to read to find out what that is.

Humidity today is 27%. Sacramento is 2 hours from the coast and 2 hours from the mountains. It's a valley region in Northern California.

I'm not all that acclimated towards heat and prefer the milder weather that San Francisco used to get where you don't need AC and only need a heater maybe one or two months out of the year in the evenings. Property is way too expensive there though.

Honestly, I've read up on mafia and figured it would basically be that, but I wasn't sure how it was all going to be framed in the context of how this forum works. But I've played Trouble in Terrorist Town (poorly), I've just never played it on a forum.

EDIT: Also, if we're sharing themes, I suggest "stuck on an island paradise with hungry raptors".
