So, when I was younger I remember playing this adventure game I was too young to understand and I have been looking for it for years now because even if I didn't understand it, it felt special. I don't know its name, I don't even know what it was about, but I remember that is was kind of steampunk japanese like (a bit like DEX). I also remember a scene where I had to rewrite some electrical box for some reason. It was point and click I think, and I also remember that I had a room or apartment or something like that with this kind of buzzing noise like from a neon light.

I think it must have been a game in the early 90's, I don't really remember if it had 4, 16 or more colors, but I think it was 16 or 256 colors.

Does anyone in here know what game I am talking about?

EDIT: It might have been cyberpunk, not steampunk.

It's not The Longest Journey, is it? That's pseudo futuristic if not exactly steampunk.

"Reserved for future answer"?
The 'rewrite electrical box' thing makes me think of Space Quest 6.
It's also a point & click, which fits in.

Here's some screenshots - http://www.mobygames.com/game/space-quest-6-roger-wilco-in-the-spinal-frontier/screenshots

And here's the scene with the electrical box (watch at 13.00) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hiOCzI05atQ

( :
Septerra Core?
Beneath A Steel Sky? It is futuristic, point&click and there is a re-wiring scene on a robot very early on.

Also it is here on GOG and free to have:

This is what I would have guessed. The apartment: http://i.imgur.com/QVsdAgZ.jpg where you can clearly see a neon sign. And there's a humming noise as well: https://youtu.be/E25Rot6vRT0?t=6m21s

You also rewire a fuse box: http://i.imgur.com/UvQR27S.jpg
Hmm... Did you mean Steampunk or Cyberpunk?

An old Cyberpunk adventure game that comes to mind is Neuromancer, which takes place in Chiba, Japan.
