I can't login to GOG Galaxy, how to solve it?

Yup, I entered the username and password correctly. I can login to the website, but this, on the GOG Galaxy, after signing in the error shows: "An error occurred during signing in"

Also, it seems the whole GOG Galaxy can't connect as during start-up it tells "There was a problem updating the application. You can always download the latest version from gog"

Well, that's odd. You could try uninstalling and re-installing Galaxy; a few users reported problems that were fixed by a fresh install. You could also make sure you haven't accidentally set it to be offline all the time; I don't use Galaxy and don't know hardly anything about it, but there's supposed to be an offline mode for it.

AN ERROR OCCURRED DURING SIGN IN

To our knowledge, this kind of issue takes place when something - usually security software on the client's end - is blocking Galaxy from contacting our servers.
You should make sure that your security (anti-virus, anti-spyware, firewall etc.) software isn't interfering with GOG Galaxy. To do this, make sure that GOG Galaxy is added to the software's trusted applications list (how to do this varies, depending on the security software).
Make sure to check in case you are using multiple firewalls, including those installed on routers and similar networking devices.Also - make sure that you have all essential Windows Updates installed. Some of our users have reported that their systems were ourdated, and installing updates solved this problem.

Have you earlier been able to log in to Galaxy on that same PC and internet connection?

Just asking as there are certain kind of internet connections where Galaxy will not work (e.g. at my workplace). Well, maybe unless you were able to set correct proxy settings or something to the client, not sure.

Also, when you say you re-installed Galaxy, did you reinstall it with the same old version that you installed earlier, or did you download the latest version from GOG.com? By your earlier message, it appeared it is specifically the Galaxy updater who is unable to connect. Just to see if "updating" the client manually (by re-installing it with a new version) would make rest of the client be able to connect.

Well well, I get the "essential components are missing"-error on this laptop when I installed and tried to launch the latest Galaxy. I earlier had some older Galaxy version on this working, but uninstalled it.

Beta... I think on my other laptop it still worked fine, at least the last time I tried. Oh well, not in a hurry personally to use it anyway. Uninstalled it for now, I'm using my GOG games without the Galaxy client at least for now (and probably beyond).

Ie., if you uninstall and re-install Galaxy to a different place than before (like I did), there is still some registry entry pointing to the old installation location.

EDIT2: Yep, there are some Galaxy registry entries left behind to the Windows registry, even after Galaxy uninstallation. ImagePath is still pointing to the directory where I originally installed Galaxy. Maybe removing those entries manually fixes it... Why is it so hard for applications to tidy up the registry completely, after uninstallation? Is that just the nature of the beast, some things just tend to be left there?

I have the same problem, I have send a message to Support, but they haven't replied yet :( I checked every possibilities to solve this problem, but all for nothing.

Yes I think this is Kaspersky. I had it but now I use different antyvirus. I also reinstalled my system. It helped.

I finally found the solution:

netsh winsock reset

You type that on the command-line (as an administrator).

I'm no technical guy, but:

1.) What caused my network to change? VPN Softwares? Bandwidth Limiters? Downloaders?

2.) How to check the network settings?

3.) What's the original network settings?

For me was the solution to do an exception in the proxy since I got a few missmatches caused by SSL.
Since I can not post the RegEx I added a Screenshot of it.
Skipping: SSL scanning / Certificate trust check / Certificate date check
I think this issue was caused since this is a CNAME reckord which leads to the akamaiedge servers

I tried everything and it still fails, even formatted my pc and it did not work. I changed the operating system and so far is not working.
