Super exciting news from AMD. Their lower end models named Ryzen 5 2400G and Ryzen 3 2200G will be the APU variants and graphic capabilities comparable to a GT 1030 Nvidia GPU (also similar to a 750Ti). Release date for February 12. The other Ryzen CPU's will be unveiled in April.

Additionally they made an improved cooler named 'Wraith Prism'.

Although not Ryzen news, slightly related are the news that the Intel CPU's with an integrated AMD Vega GPU are now released. Link: https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=Intel-Radeon-Vega-M-Launched

I've taken a quick look at these CPU's and the currently released ones are not for desktop their socket type is a BGA2270 (Soldered on Chip). I don't know how the 100W package would handle the heat in a laptop, but the 65W one would surely be sweet.

Unfortunately no Vega replacement for rx 580 and gpu prices are still very high in Europe

The 100W chip might be for mini-computers and all-in-ones.

Polaris doesn't need a vega replacement. Just a navi one.

Their products are shiny. APU with the power of a gt 1030. :o

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that navi will be delayed until 2019, in the meantime we still have to pay 300+ euros to get 60fps on 1080p

And what's the point of 1030? If I want to play games, it's not enough.

For 3D gaming it certainly is inadequate but not everyone plays 3D games. You might want to use a lot of monitors or you have a CPU devoid of integrated graphics and your GPU stopped working.

Sure, i just thought that for the rest of the uses, something so powerful isn't needed, so we are overpaying. Isn't the intel hd 630for example enough for anything other than gaming or professional use?

Not sure it can handle 4K resolutions but now I am out on thin ice here as I have not used any newer Intel integrated than HD Graphics 4600.

If it is comparable to a GTX 750 ti, as OP claims, then it would be perfectly suited for 3D gaming, just not the latest AAA games. Back when I had a 750 ti, I played games such as Witcher 2, Hand of Fate, Shadow Warrior ( the remake ), Legend of Grimrock 2 etc. -- It's a decently powerful GPU. Apparently some even play Witcher 3 on it.

So what do you usually lose by going APU instead of GPU (just on the CPU front)?
More expensive, I suppose, but what else?
Lower frequency? Less cores? Increased power consumption?
