I'm not particularly bothered, I never even played the LotR MMO we already have, despite hearing much good about it. I hope, however, that maybe with this project dead we might finally get a proper single player LotR RPG. I heard a lot of good about the One Ring tabletop RPG (unfortunately the core rulebooks seem to be hard to come by these days), and I'd love to see that turned into a computer game.
Wow, who would have figured.
oh not the hobbits ...
amazon is so noob in game making
who the hell choses cryengine over other options?:O
No tencent crap, you should be ecstatic.
Cast it into the fire! Destroy it!
I think a MMO of LotR would be cool but MMOs suck because of the pay per month thing

You do know that there already is a LotR MMO and it's been free-to-play for a good long while now?

Myself, I think MMOs suck regardless of their monetization scheme, which is why I hope this cancellation might pave way for a single player game. It's a slim hope, but still. For an MMO you need the Chinese market, so you need tencent, and that failed. But for a single player RPG the Chinese market isn't so important, so...

I expect they have their hands full with this “unexpected” bonus of COVID killing off local retail outlets and other competition. It must take all their staff to count the profits.

Perhaps Amazon should take better care of their workers instead of fooling around.

That's because some licenses were revoked, some changed hands, and it's impossible to remember who's developing what now.

Yes MMOs aren't for everyone, for me if I were to get really deep into one I'd probably get tired of grinding or something.
If I don't get tired then I would just play a lot and get depressed so...
I liked what I played of WoW though, it kinda made me feel like I was accomplishing something and that is what I like to feel when/after playing games.
Not surprised. Its Tencent who we are talking about. They want their fingers in everything. Shit chinese company. Wonder how amazon devs were involved with the production of this game though.... thought amazon would had everything inhouse?
Kind of a bummer, to be honest, but at least we still have LOTRO (which is a great MMO, by the way, despite a semi-annoying approach to a F2P business model).
