It's much smaller than it sounds! I have dozens of reasons to do a GA, so I'm doing an AMALGAMATE giveaway!!!

The best reason is that it feels good to give!

Here's some other reasons for me to give games away if you like more reasons (and why not?! that what makes it an amalgamate! and who doesn't like an amalgamate? it's just fun to say AMALGAMATE! That's a reason right there to do a giveaway, to use the word AMALGAMATE, YEAH!)

mORe for the amalgamate: I made my first purchase here Dec. 2010, so it is my 5 year mark (though only active on the forums for 1 year and a half+.) I hit 500 rep. not long ago (oooh, big whoop, with how rep. is on here, of course), and 3 stars a little before that (and another big whoop with *sarcasm*.)

More reasons:

AMALGAMATION!!

The new year is coming (this one I'm excited about, 2015 has been a shitter.)

more amalgamation:

Simply: everyone MUST PLAY Fallout 1 and Fallout 2, imo!

They are one (two?) of the BEST video games of all time!!! Definite classics with numerous exceptional elements!: atmosphere (setting+music+color palette, etc.), writing+story (and all that goes with that, characters, setting, themes), dark themes with a great perspective (some dark humor, but more than that, it has it's own blunt and lighthearted acceptance/recognition of a dire post-apocalyptic situation. Truly unique!)

I know most people probably have the Fallouts at this point, but I figure maybe some more will come out of the woodwork who might be less sure about it at this point, COME GET ONE if you don't have either/both of them!

To make more AMALGAMATION! :

amrit9037 has been kind & generous, as always, and has given me a copy of Terraria to give away as well!!!! I have had some good times playing that too!!! Thanks amrit9037 for the key!!! You started the AMALGAMATION process - LOOK OUT everyone, it's growing!!! I'd also say Terraria has some mobs and things that make "amalgamation" an appropriate association with it too!

*refresh because I've been constructing this over some time*

OHWOW, lookie that! The DUKE games went on sale and leaving GOG! SHAME SHAME. I'll add Duke 1+2 and Duke 3D to the GA too! I actually have only ever played Duke Nukem 3D and Duke Nukem Forever. I like them both quite a bit (Forever is HELLA fun, and gets not nearly enough love, I don't know why. HATERS!) I'm not sure if I'd have the patience for 1+2 these days, actually!

MORE AMALGAMATION!!!!

well shit, a proper amalgamation cannot take form without some consequences the size of LEGION, so I feel it appropriate to add:

The Ultimate DOOM
and DOOM II + Final DOOM to the GA too.
which I LOVE and are still some of my favorite FPS of all time. To be clear, DOOM II + Final DOOM is 1 "thing" and The Ultimate DOOM is another "thing." So there are 2 separate DOOM "things" here to be won.

more amalgamation you say, you didn't have enough AMALGAMATION?!?!?! okay...

:

Let me tell you about my day! It was GREAT one! One of the best in a long time!

A friend invited my partner and I to a "secret spot" at a park near where he lives, out in semi-rural Pennsylvania.

It was Sunday so there was no hunting to be worried about.

It was Sunday so there were LOTS of Amish in Horse & Buggies around, which we don't have any around where we live, but travel 45 minutes away where our friend lives and they're abundant.

I grew up in rural PA and it there were always Amish around, so it was very nice and brought back lots of good vibes and memories for me, just seeing the fields and forests and mountains and hills and valleys and all, where I live is much more densely populated and not nearly as peaceful and relaxing. I miss it!

We went hiking through the woods at a beautiful park. It was donated by the person who previously owned the land to be a park to preserve it. That is such a wonderful thing to do.

We were high on some cliffs (and some weed) along a small creek. Despite it being fUcked up weather for this time of year, it was quite lovely out in warm and foggy + overcast day. Looking through the barren trees with hills and valleys and giant rocks, birds, and a wonderful smell all around. It's some of my favorite nature and the feel was great!

some rules:

1. don't be an asshole or similarly negative

2. don't talk about scammers or leechers or similar. if you have a concern about someone who has entered for the GA, please send me a PM.

3. You can't enter for Fallout 2 if you haven't played Fallout 1. Of course I have no way to check this, so please just get+play them in the correct order.

If you haven't played Fallout 1 in over 10 years, I'd LIKE if you'd play/get 1 before going for 2, too, but, that's not a HARD rule.

4. ignore the 4th rule

6. say which games you are interested in receiving and in what order you prefer them (my mind-reading abilities only work intermittently so this is the best way for me to know which games you're interested in receiving!) Right now all the games on the same key, I asked GOG to break them up, but if they don't, you'll have to be conscious and considerate and only redeem the game(s) you've won.

5. the giveaway ends when I say so and winners will be picked randomly

7. don't tell me how to count

--- edited for more perfection ---

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

additional information:

----- Time to Trust ----- most of these games are all on ----- ONE CODE ----- (True AMALGAMATION!) ----- This GA will have multiple (an amalgamation of!) winners! This means that if you win a game you must only redeem the game(s) that you have won, and leave the other games on the code for the other winners to redeem!

...if you're a meanie or clumsy or whatever and redeem the wrong games, that will not have been good and nice and I will cry and say mean things too probably...

Terraria is on its own code. (so, this giveaway has both a prize solo and a prize to be trusted+shared, more amalgamation! Thanks again, amrit!!!

*********************

from GOG:

"The Elder Scrolls: Arena and The Elder Scrolls Chapter II: Daggerfall are added to the individual Bethesda products, so the person who redeems the base game will also get the two Elder Scrolls ones... if the individual base games are redeemed separately, each recipient will get the Elder Scrolls games."

That means all redeemers of the Fallout and DOOM items will get them.

As nice as this giveaway looks, I hate RPGs, so I'll pass. I don't care how awesome you say it is and how much you say everybody should play it, so I brazenly break rule #1 with my unpopular opinion. Bring the hate.
Have a +1 on me, though.

drealmer7: Forever is HELLA fun, and gets not nearly enough love, I don't know why. HATERS!
I agree, I just recently played it for the first time and it's actually a GOOD game!

Not in since I have all the games you're giving away but a BIG + for making this GA!

Sweet kisses to everybody in this topic.

Thank you very much for sharing some happiness!

I confess I have a very strange relationship with the Fallout games. Many years ago, when Fallout came out, I installed the demo. It ran (not all demos did back then), but it failed to capture my interest. Something did not "click". Maybe there were other demos and games that I fancied more at the time, or lack of free HD space led me to uninstall it before I gave it a fair chance.

It took a little bit of time, but my taste in games changed. I guess I became more mature, and I looked for deeper games. Arcanum and Planescape Torment were quite good isometric RPGs, outside the traditional Sword & Sorcery subgenre.

Later, I read many favourable opinions of the game. Many years later, a friend of mine (with similar tastes to mine) raved about the game. He said that it was the intro that led him to give it a chance, since hexes were not his thing (I don't know why, as I like them once I understood why they are used).

Fun fact: It was only this year that I saw the Mad Max movies. Yes. I had not seen any of them! I enjoyed them.

For a long time I have been looking for the Fallout games to be available DRM-Free. And now that they are here, what a joy! I want to give them the fair chance they did not have at the time. Tactics too, but I understand there is not much of a story for that one.
I think there is very little chance that I would not like Fallout now. I am a big fan of the old Black Isle Studios games. The new 3D ones, honestly, I am more hesitant to try (and certainly I will not do so without going through the series in chronological release order).

In short: I'm in for Fallout and Fallout 2 games if I may.

Thanks once again.
I finished Fallout for the first time last year. And then replayed it three times. Imagine my surprise when the area featured in the demo, which I played alongside the Diablo demo back in 1996, was nowhere to be found in the finished game. Ironically, Fallout 2 I played when it came out, and it has since remained one of my favorite games, bested (or equaled, depending on the day) only by Arcanum. I have no idea why I waited for so long, but I'm glad I finally sat down and played it. It was a fun couple of months. I cannot possibly be unbiased as to whether which one is better, but both are on my top 10 RPGs list.

I own the games both on DVD ("White Label") and GOG, so I'd prefer to be in for Doom (2, 1 in order of preference).

Thank you for the amalgama...I mean, giveaway :)
Not in but thanks for the giveaway.
Amalgamate! I'd love to enter for Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 as I had a disc bundle which was AMALGAMATE lost :(when I moved to another city around 2010.
So I planned to purchase it on GOG to have it for eternity, yet then GOG pulls it off the shelves and later - reinserts under Bethesda, but with all the awesome goodies lost in the process. :(

So, I am in.
Sounds like an awesome day, and a great way to end a crap year! Here's to looking forward to 2016 being better than your best year thus far! :-)

I'm in for the Duke 1+2 (=3?)

Thanks for the giveaway, and thanks so much for sharing about your day!

PS - Is the version of Fallout different on Gog vs. Steam?
The word amalgamate reminds me of getting amalgam fillings at the dentist! Please count me in for Doom II & Final Doom. Thank you. +1
Know what, changed my mind. I'm in for Fallout 1, JUST because everybody here rants about it and I just wanna see what the hype's all about. I mean, I did enjoy Crimson Shroud, so who knows, maybe I'll like it?

Well, it wasn't really like that, but, thanks for the clip and good luck!

Gede: ...snip...
Thanks for the story/info/details about yourself/experience with Fallouts! I love hearing these sorts of things. I'm very glad you're interested and enthusiastic to give them a try! Especially hearing you liked Arcanum and PS:T and recently got into the Mad Max movies! Those 2 ganes and + Fallout 1+2 are my favorite RPGs. I love love love post-apocalyptic settings and dark + maturely handled themes/ideas, as well as dark humor.

My first exposure to post-apoc. was probably Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome (which I saw as a kid before Mad Max or Road Warrior.) I like them a lot, mostly because of their setting and how it allowed for such a creativity. Fallout 1+2 takes that setting to a deeper, darker, more fleshed out, character + story + thematic depth area that suites my tastes wonderfully.

hyperagathon: snip..
Again, thanks for the story+details! Have you played PS:T yet? If Arcanum and Fallout 1+2 are so highly held by you and if you haven't, I strongly recommend it. I also highly recommend Inquisitor, which while it has different combat mechanics than the others mentioned here, its RP-ability is top notch quality like Arcanum, Fallout, and PS:T.

Unfortunately I don't have copies of the old versions that used to be on here to give away, and so no goodies included in these Fallouts. But, at least the base games are available! You are entered for 1+2

I do encourage everyone to install the patches/fixes/updatesthat bring the game to how it was intended to be played (killable children in Fallout 1, bugfixes, etc. very important, imo.) F2Restoration project is a MUSTMUSTMUST!

Thanks! I'm not sure about the differences between the current GOG and Steam versions, I would imagine they are essentially the same, but do not *know.*

Ooof, hopefully I didn't traumatize you by typing it so many times. At least you remained conscious for long enough to type out your entry!

Too late you already said no!!

kidding...

There's no hype, it's all well-deserved praise! Don't build yourself up with expectations though. It is never good to do that for anything, because it most always will lead to disappointment.

Some useful words of fore-knowledge about the game:

Fallout 1 can be a little "finicky" to get a feel for and get into because of some of the "clunk" factor. The thing is, I'm so familiar with it that there isn't any clunk for me when I play it, and, with a little time invested, the "clunk" really does disappear. It is almost unfair to a call it a "clunk factor", but for a good number of players coming to it, that is what it will be. Learn it, be patient, give it some time, and you will be fine and enjoying everything else the game has to offer. It just operates differently than most games and takes a bit of learning of how to operate/function smoothly. A little inventory management to get used to. A little follower-mechanics to get used to. There's an initial open-ness that can be slightly off-putting (you really do feel just like the character is written - out of your element dumped into an unknown world where you don't really know what is in store or how to do about doing what needs done.)

*know* that there are lots of people who *know* the game inside and out around, and we/they will be glad to help you with anything you need, and actually most issues and angles have been covered previously and you will probably find it helpful to just check out the subforums and read varying topics of discusssion re: Fallout 1+2.
