jeffkiwi: I'm 27 years old and I'm probably going to quit gaming forever in the near future, but I love 8 bit armies and BattleZone Combat Commander
AB2012: As others have said, "never say never". I went through a phase around 15 years ago of going off gaming for a couple of years, and yet I was soon back enjoying it. Your tastes change as your get older. I used to be into 90's MP "twitch shooters", but now I don't care in the slightest for modern multi-player games or the usual overly sequelled creativity-devoid "AAA" franchises anymore (or many directions the industry is unfortunately heading into, eg, "Games as a Service", "pay2win2" microtransactions, etc). But out of the hundreds of games I do like from Golden Oldies to modern Indie's, they're still as enjoyable as ever. And age is irrelevant. I know gamers in their 60's enjoying their hobby more than some teenagers. 27 is not even middle-aged, let alone "old".
If you're giving up for a reason, maybe ask yourself what that is. Eg, if you play one genre of game exclusively, you can easily get burned out so maybe try and mix things up a bit with other genre's with different styles of play?
I saw a video a few years back, about elderly people in a retirement home playing some simple motion controlled Sports games on the Wii. They seemed to be having a good time, and it's cool how they get to discover video games for the first time at their old age.
When you think about it, video games can be a great hobby for older folks. It's a good work-out for the mind, and easy on the body. And MMOs and similar games even allow for some social interaction with all sorts of people and age groups.
It's good to see we're finally at a point where video games no longer have that stigma of being only for nerds and children.
To OP: If you're no longer enjoying video games as you used to, maybe just take a break from them and look into some other hobbies and activities. And if you get that itch again after a while, you could try some new genres. I don't see why you should stop playing them "forever".
