I'm 32. I was playing games since I was a kid, and I'll be playing until the day I go sky diving and my parachute fails.

Just remember, you don't need a parachute to go skydiving.

You need a parachute to go skydiving twice.
I remember old MS-DOS 5.x.
I'm also old:)

jeffkiwi: ha, well we shall see what happens with my life. I'm very interested in the crises around the world today. Is anyone else into that sort of stuff but still enjoying TEH GAMES? The more I watch the news the more harshly I judge certain games.
That sounds interesting, could you give some examples what games you're thinking about? Military shooters in contemporary settings?

I only started with PC gaming at 32 (but for a few games on my dad's BBC homecomputer back in the eighties), so I've only been gaming for 15 years now. For me, there's alas no nostalgia-tinted glasses for DOS-era games.

jeffkiwi: I'm 27 years old and I'm probably going to quit gaming forever in the near future, but I love 8 bit armies and BattleZone Combat Commander
Why would you quit? I'm exactly twice your age (yeah, I'm 54) and have no plans on quitting gaming. It's one of the few forms of entertainment that keeps my attention. My wife doesn't understand why I like it, but she doesn't mind.
I'm 37. I want to quit gaming and start game developing. XD
I'm 35 and MY damn dentures rub

Why Do they make it with that DAMN hard plastic

My mother had a REAL BAD FALL a few weeks ago fell backwards down 11 stairs hit the ground and kept on going through the wall well her head and shoulders went through the wall had to get a tradesman in to patch the bloody wall up and THAT'S 1 THING ON THE LIST OF SHIT I GO THROUGH ON A "GOOD" DAY!

still gaming (slowly but steadily)
sharing games and fun with the grand-kids
saving money for a gaming laptop (and a new set of teeth)
If this is true then you might be a contender for the title of oldest gamer on this forum. ( Which may or may not sound appealing, but I think it's great when older folks enjoy video games. I think it's probably even less common among older women. ) How old were you when you started playing video games, and do you remember your first games/ game series?

The Elder Holes? Now you're just making this thread weird. I mean... weirder than it already was.

AB2012: If you mean political stuff, eg, you watch a lot of news about the Mid-East that makes you angry / upset so FPS's based around the Mid-East don't resonate with you anymore, that's understandable. There's a lot more to games though (Sci-Fi, fantasy, humor, Steampunk, puzzle games, etc) that isn't based around modern-day politics. As for "if it bleeds, it leads" style news itself, I find people are generally happier watching less news not more. That doesn't mean be ignorant of world events, just don't feel like you have to take the whole world on your shoulders personally.
Missed your post earlier. Couldn't have said it better myself.
TBH my interest in games IS slowly dying, I still love them and will play them but I have been steering away from them to do Coin collecting. For some reason collecting coins from all years from around the world especially japan makes me feel happy like the old days of gaming did.

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you get better soon.
A break from a hobby is not necessarily a bad decision, give it a few months and you may think, I fancy firing up (insert game).

I rarely play the latest games and just having a load of fun playing games from my youth (I'm 43). With gaming, modern games no longer hold a lot of interest (personal preference) so in order to restore my interest, I opted to focus on games from my youth. I am having a blast.

I have loads of interests outside of gaming and tend to juggle, and go through cycles. I know some of my interests are a money pit so I deliberately avoid until the time is right - for instance all it takes is a quick search on eBay will soon spark my interest so I tend to make a decision not to look as temptation will take hold!

One example, I recently picked up a retro rig, the hunt for parts begins then its big box games, etc...
