So Alien Covenant (Prometheus sequel/Alien prequel) is up. And honestly i gotta say I like it. Looks like first Alien and that's a good thing especially after the horrid Prometheus. Lets just hope its not more a remake than a movie on its own. But either way trailer loked good and it has me interested. And it comes out in may which is not that long to wait.
Meh. Not a particularly good trailer. Not a terrible one either, but it doesn't really show anything interesting, the song feels utterly out of place... I don't know, maybe I just find it impossible to be excited about a sequel to Prometheus. Although, Promethus was actually a ton of fun to watch with a friend as a so-bad-it's-good movie. I fear this is going to just end up being sort of bland. I'm not even really much of a fan of the first Alien, to be honest (heresy, I know).

I'm fan of "Alien" and second movie "Aliens". Very disappointed after watching "Covenant" trailer...not interesting, boring and stupid shower scene in the end (hey Ridley this not "Friday the 13th" movie) :( Now I wait Neill Blomkamp's "Alien project".

Well, at least Ridley Scott got the message and actually gave us a dyed-in-the-wool Alien film, instead of some weirdly confusing kinda-sorta-not-really prequel.

Scott redeemed himself in my eyes with The Martian, but we'll see what he does with this film. But if anything, Neill Blokamp's Alien film looks much more interesting.
I'm a fan of 'anything-Alien' so to me this looks more than cool, I'll watch it and probably buy it on DVD, as with the other ones. I appreciate that each movie is different.

I do get the sense that Scott is building up this franchise from scratch, the way he would have liked it to be.
So I won't be surprised if there are even more Alien movies after this one.
Damn that looks bland.
I still haven't see Prometheus. Even if it's terrible i think I should before I see this.

One thing is for sure, while I encourage change, Scott has clearly lost his mind because the new Xenomorph looks terrible.

OH OH!

P.S. I hold no hope for the film. Prometheus was bad, so I'm not holding out any hope.
Makes for a less disappointing let down (if it turns out to be one).

When I watched it I had no clue it was actually a prequel to Aliens so halfway through I was like 'omg, this seems like such a ripoff off aliens'. Till it finally hit me, and then I thought it was pretty cool. Good enough to watch once at least.

I'm ok with the 'non-Alien' movies they are making as long as they keep making Alien movies, which i think they have planned?
I liked Prometheus overall, I don't quite get all the hate it gets. Those super-humans or whatnot were kinda cool.

IMO, don't bother; just watch Film Brain's Bad Movie Beatdown episode on Prometheus, and/or Red Letter Media's Half in the Bag epsidode on it.

Also, while it's all hearsay, I'm feeling a little less optimistic about the movie after I read an article on the "neomorphs" in Covenant. Granted there's a good chance that that a lot of that was faked (that's from a linked fansite), but given what we saw in Prometheus, some of that being true (in varying degrees) wouldn't surprise me. Sadly, to me, a lot of that sounds less like an Alien movie and more like a rip-off of some of my favorite X-Files episodes.

Watch it and make up your own mind whether you like it. As I said, I actually liked it, but then I had lowered expectations due to all the hate it has gotten.

Reading imdb.com, Prometheus has gotten pretty good rating there (7.0/10, 465423 votes), and judging by both the reviews and forum posts, there are both people who love the movie and hate it with a passion.

Not sure if the hate stems from the movie not really being an Aliens movie (about those pesky aliens), even though it is related to them.

I'd go with Spoony's review (no idea why the original upload is gone), but I imagine they all cover pretty much the same ground. It's quite incredible just how bad the script for that thing was. Pretty much tailor made to be torn apart stupid moment by stupid moment.

Like I said- it's fun to watch with friends and have a laugh, but I'd imagine watching it alone would be a pretty boring, pretty frustrating experience.

No, it stems from almost every moment, character, action and element in the movie making less sense than Lord Vader peeling a potato with a sponge.

I want to see Prometheus once, but, and this is an indication that my anti-depressants aren't working, I'm sitting here visibly upset and unable to concentrate because I fear I may not be able to see it before the new one comes out. :P
The better version

P.S. Those "reviews", sheesh! they're the length of films! haha
