Epic Store exclusive (plus consoles). Maybe it'll show up on GOG a year later :/
While I do like Alan Wake, what is with the trend of all these games getting remakes/remasters?
Guessing it's a safer business venture than a completely new IP. At least, that's how it works with movies, so I'm assuming it's similar with games.

Being reclaimed by the publishers/developers and re-introduced to a newer audience may also be another reason (LucasArts' stellar adventure games come to mind).

Well, in case of Alan Wake it is to drum up some interest again since Remedy is also working on Alan Wake 2 now.
remasters are a waste of money and time, the original is fine as it is. no point in putting this on gog.

low rated
Alan Wake is kinda crap anyways. Instead of a graphics overhaul they sould remaster the horribly tedious and boring gameplay.

I agree, they could turn their talents towards new projects or even a new Alan Wake story instead.

There are certain 80s and 90s RPGs and RTS/TBS strategy games I wouldn't mind seeing a remake/remaster of, but most games past 2010 or even a bit earlier don't really need it. Maybe a few classic adventure games too. At least not from my perspective.

As far as putting it on GOG or not, I don't think that matters. Those who aren't interested will skip it and those that are will have an opportunity to try it. I'd say that's a win win for everyone.

Perhaps better to ask beamdog, they listened to that dire straits song too much “money for nothing and your chicks for free”.

Same issue as Hollywood with movies & TV series - complete industry wide brain-drain / catastrophic lack of creativity.

For the past 10-12 years, "Creative Directors" of video games and movies alike now only require one skill-set - CTRL-C, CTRL-V.

Cut, Copy & Paste, as immortalized in this song:

(sorry, German lyrics. But very funny.)
It's only 9 years old. It doesn't need a graphical overhaul/remaster.

Remasters are just to make lazy easy money , not to uplift the product
Remasters usually trade good artwork in low resolution and a low amount of polygons for budget artwork in a higher resolution and higher amount of polygons. To me that's a bad trade. There's always some exceptions of course.

I also generally find it more interesting to play good games in their original form.

I agree. I've got the original game here. It still looks good, it still plays well, and I still prefer playing a game in its original form.
