I promptly removed it from my wishlist over on Steam.

Shadowstalker16: I don't really blame the devs. They didn't anticipate so many people would get so crying wailing upset over what they wanted to make. They also probably didn't anticipate this would get as much media coverage as it did, which probably had an effect on it. Either way, more strikes to creative freedom. They should try to release the uncensored version on some other platform, where self-appointed moral-gatekeepers don't have as much influence.
What? Sure they anticipated. Sure they knew. That has been their entire advertising strategy: controversy.

You're not alone, I think this is it, though, as I know GOG takes a long time if at all to approve titles here, most often. This could take years to get on here..

Ancient-Red-Dragon: Wow, the devs totally retracted their promise to release a completely uncensored patch. I bet that retraction could cause some legal issues for them if anyone decides to sue them over it. Their Kickstarter backers just got shafted big-time.

I was looking forward to this game but I hate censored games, so now it's a pass.

Also, as for the devs' claims that the game would be banned and they would be sued, those statements require further explanation. Like:

On what platforms would it be banned?

Who would sue them, and on what basis?

Why couldn't they release an Adults Only version of the game and sell it exclusively on their own website? Surely that would not be illegal.
Honestly, they've been changing the story so much I haven't the foggiest, but the legal issues they might be dealing with could stem from the Hot Coffee paradox. Releasing a patch that can alter the base game would allow the consoles to be modded with dev content directly, hence it could get it pulled. This is what I'm guessing their legal team is flipping about, just maybe. Although, if the game is released on it's own uncut, it's an entirely new game on it's own and no longer a patch. Why they can't just do that on Steam is where I get lost..

In any case, beyond censorship, reading the reviews the game seem with many bugs and few things to do, with a mediocre technical realization. So I don't know if it can pass the quality control of GOG, and honestly, if the reviews are true, I hope not at this point.

This game had a vision behind, at least I think so. Twisted as it was, I don't think they wanted to make a controversy-whore game. They had a kickstarter and an idea of what they wanted to do, not just the objective of wanting to bait idiots who always get whiny when they see stuff like this. If they wanted to make something just for the sake of making something controversial they could have done much better (worse?), like the recent school shooting game announced and then removed from steam.
If the game gets a fully uncensored release on GOG, I will buy it from here. But it has to be uncensored and not "toned down".

Well, when you spend over an entire year censoring the game back and forth between ratings boards to get it universal on consoles, no time is left for bug fixes and tweaks..

Same. This game looks good, but the whole censorship thing has turned me off it. If GOG get it uncensored then i'll get it here.

I will grab it out of curiosity. However, I expect the half assed job they did to get the AO version of Manhunt 2 onto Rockstar's store, not the original vision (We had to find the old beta files to restore the true content).. They have a lot of trust to regain right now.

The game look as awful as Inner Chains and should not pass curation for all the issues it seem to have and the impression i get of the game itself is a shitty walking sim set in hell.

Can we get actual good games released more frequenty instead ? but if people want to buy then i guess they have a right to do so even if the game is below subpar.

I have been searching for reviews myself but for Agony and while i certainly don't trust critics, the impression from gamers are poor as well so they certainly have somethng in common

This guy is a different kind of reviewer, he will slam RE7 without giving a rat's arse. He earned my respect, and I've even had disagreements..

All the advertising and publicity was about the horrific content. If their vision was more than that, they failed entirely to convey it.

It's good that he does not blindly praise a game and while i do not particularily like RE7 either, he does give in to "hype" now and then and are far too lenient on games he likes even if they have issues galore.

Everyone has their biases after all.
