I don't think Triumph really wanted to support a DRM-Free version, they might have done so at release because there was just the Windows version. Their excuse for the Linux version is that it depends on the Steam-runtime which (according to them) can't be included with the game and distributed freely on other Stores.

I'm not very familiar with Mac but my guess is that they might be pushing frequent undocumented hotfixes on Steam for both Mac and Linux. Either way we're being treated as 2nd class citizens since we're in the minority here.

Me too. =/ I use Windows myself, but Mac and Linux users are people too. I've enjoyed the AoW series and would love to get the latest expansion, but to see that Triumph just doesn't care about customers outside Steam... how could I support that kind of business practice? Oy, principles!

I sent Triumph an e-mail expressing my disappointment. I'm sure it's being read by "top people" as we speak. /s

In the mean time, I've redirected those funds to games that have Linux support on GOG. They put in the effort and care, they deserve my hard earned money.

I see their argument regarding the libraries, but they don't seem a problem with the windows version - or why release that here in the first place? If they depend so heavily on Steam the game why bother even releasing it anywhere else if the platform is so good. Seems like the windows version was just a test and since they make more money on steam, they only invest their und don't really care about the GOG version, thats the only explanation I have for their missing support.

They absolutely ARE allowed to distribute the Steam runtime on GOG.

Indeed, they're probably aware of that anyway. I think their actions speak for themselves, the Mac version doesn't require any of the Steam-Runtime as far as I'm aware, so why isn't that here at least?

If they don't want to support 6 different versions (3 on GOG, 3 on Steam) of their game they could just say so. Pushing frequent updates can be time consuming I understand that.

They've burned too many bridges for me to bother any longer, they don't care, I won't either. Plenty of games here to spend my money on.

Nah, I don't bother waiting for it anymore. As @Ganni1987 said, there are plenty of other games to spend your money on.

Heh, they're doing what supports their best interest.

Linux and Mac crowds are minority on Steam, on GOG.... far less. They're doing it right from their perspective.

What they are doing is showing lack of professionalism and giving bogus excuses for it. I could understand if indeed their problem was the lack of time or people to do something hard. But they simply had no clue that they could bundle Steam runtime...
