I don't think Triumph really wanted to support a DRM-Free version, they might have done so at release because there was just the Windows version. Their excuse for the Linux version is that it depends on the Steam-runtime which (according to them) can't be included with the game and distributed freely on other Stores.
I'm not very familiar with Mac but my guess is that they might be pushing frequent undocumented hotfixes on Steam for both Mac and Linux. Either way we're being treated as 2nd class citizens since we're in the minority here.
