In the past several days rumors have appeared of two new AOC monitors on the horizon.

Both will be 35-inch curved (2m radius) VA panels with 3440x1440 resolution and 144Hz refresh rate.
Both will have 300 cd/m² brightness, 3000:1 contrast and 4ms GtG response time.

AG352UCX will include FreeSync and two speakers at 5 Watt each.
AG352UCG will include G-Sync and two speakers at 2 Watt each.

(Perhaps AOC has established that AMD users have worse hearing. Not sure what to make of this really.)

Either way, if this rumor is true, I am SUPER EXCITED!!! I'll most certainly be getting the G-Sync model the day it comes out. I've been waiting for a while for a monitor like that, but so far nobody was able to get all of these specs in a single device.

Anyone else excited over this?
Frankly, I still don't get the point of curved displays so... *shrug*

It makes all the sense when they are big. Try one if you get a chance.
No, but I don't think you deserve to get downvoted. :P

I'm still being downvoted? Oh, yea, I guess the "low rated" sign does appear within minutes of me making any post. =)

It's no problem, I don't care for rep. In fact I don't even see it — just added new functionality to JerkMuter last night, which hides rep. It does amuse me immensely that the angry jerks are so desperately trying to do something, anything, that they think would hurt me. =)

Alaric.us: Monitor stuff
Haven't heard of this until now. Never used/seen a curved monitor, but I would love to try one out. Before that I need a bigger table :P

Besides, I think I could use an updated monitor, mine is currently an AOC 1600x900 something or another I got at walmart for $100 a while ago.

The issue I have with the topic being downvoted isn't the effect on Rep, but rather the fact that it makes the topic appear as having been read even when there are new posts in the topic.

Please don't downvote the initial post in the topic unless you are certain that the forum would be better off without the topic in the first place.

(Also, I wish GOG would remove this misfeature, or at least make it so that such topics can be distinguished from those that actually have no new replies.)

I think DP 1.4+ is needed to achieve that, meaning no release this year?

I think the idea is that it simulates a more natural field of vision, just like wide-screens compared to old 4:3 screens. Our eyes and pupils aren't flat after all, so they capture our surroundings in a sort of curved field of view in front/around of us.

I have yet to try one myself. Probably wouldn't want to use it for work, but I could imagine using one for games and movies. Of course, in the long run, they'll probably be replaced by actual VR or augmented reality headsets, at least in the entertainment sector. Actually, augmented reality could be useful for many types of work, as well.
I contacted AOC on Twitter and they said they will have further details on upcoming releases in the near future.
I'm becoming more hopeful!
I'm not rich, so I'm not excited.
Dude, i'm on 1280x1024, 17 inch. :P :D
