Time4Tea:
Yes. Do not spend too much on RAM as those are DDR3 and we are moving to DDR5 next.

Time4Tea: 3. CPU/motherboard

Does that sound about right?
Item 3 should be CPU + motherboard + RAM all at once because if you do one, you'll have to do them all. Your old RAM won't be compatible.
To be fair, RAM is kinda cheap nowadays.

Everything is relative.. my 5900X (which I haven't received yet) cost 589 EUR, 64 GB of 3600CL16 cost me 620 EUR. That makes RAM the most expensive part of my new build.

It's not too late to change my mind.. apparently they're getting more of them in stock than the 5900X. 5900X is so friggin sold out everywhere and arriving in smaller batches than 5950X. I'm thinking about it.

Dunno, I felt like 5900X is much better value and having a higher base clock is nice too. Also I'm wondering whether 5950X with its 16 cores is approaching the point where memory bandwidth may in fact become a genuine concern. Quad channel DDR5 would be nice to have for 16+ cores.

A friend that works on a hardware shop (computer related) told me they should received a small batch a week ago and a larger batch just before the black friday. Well by the looks none will be here.
