I don’t have time to play a lot of games. As a result of not having a lot of free time, I usually wait till a game is on sale before justifying the purchase. Then comes the summer sale. My only real excuse for holding off is now gone. So I add items to my cart and proceed to check out.
PayPal
I check out using paypal. I’ve used paypal since 2010 with no issues. Until last Friday. After hours of trying almost everything I start chatting with paypal support. I end up trying everything again. Then waiting 48 hours and trying again. After a week I finally get support on the phone. Turns out that my account isn’t verified and to get it verified I would need to link a bank account. I asked why; why wasn’t 10+ years of use verification enough. Same answer… for security and that there was nothing else to be done. Well, I told paypal what they could stick and where and where they could go in a rough, crude, and belligerent manner.
Gpay
I noticed GoG accepted gpay. Ok; I don’t have a google account but I’d create one. I enter name, password, and (after 30 min. of trying) username [at] gmail. Clicked next. Requires a phone number for verification. More garbage. But ok. I enter my home (land line) number. I receive the error that this phone number can not be used for verification. I search on line and all I can find is that to many accounts have been created using that phone number. Which is impossible. I’ve had this number for 30 years. No one has used it to verify a google account. What ever. I’ll use the second line (that is only used for the fax machine) that I’ve had for just as long. Same error. I tried my cell phone number that I got back in early 2008. Same error. I’ve tried two more cell numbers in my house that we've had since 2011/2012 and received the same error. I had my sister try her cell, ipad, home, and husband's phone numbers and received the same error. I’m starting to believe that there is something wrong with google.
Credit Card
Finally I thought screw it; I’ll just enter my cc. Guess what happened. Declined. I called the issuer of the card. Apparently the reason for the decline was that the billing addresses did not match. At checkout all I can enter is the card number, expiration date, and code. The cc co. tried pre-authorizing the charge but it still failed. Luckily I had another card.
This was a week long ordeal to make a purchase from GoG.
