Crisco1492: I think a few of GOG's visual novels are VERY "adult"
avatar
Ancient-Red-Dragon: No they aren't. GOG carries censored VNs.

And when censored versions aren't available, GOG simply does not carry those VNs at all.

If GOG truly allowed adult VNs, then it's selection of VNs would be vastly larger than it is now, and also, the VNs that it carries would never be censored.

Your post makes it sound like GOG proudly carries all VNs regardless of how adult they are. But that's the opposite of reality.
Yep, additionally, even games that are already censored aren't censored enough for them at times. Heck, Steam, an American company, sells completely uncensored VNs which feature lots of sex (including rape) while GOG, a European company, is like: "Nudity? Ahh, put it away! Put it away!" When you are more prude than the Americans, you should know something is wrong with you.
Lula was on the store before they migrated from Cyprus to Poland legally, so either the rights were fickle or it wasn't profitable.

Or Poland is more catholic than Cyprus.

Cyprus is Orthodox mostly and not so much Catholic. And they have no problem with videogames or censor. Nothing like Germany and Australia, for instance...

Exactly my point. Cyprus doesn't have much censorship that I'm aware of. But I don't know about Poland. I know Germany censors some violence and some symbols. Poland, being a nation with a strong conservative catholic background, may frown upon sex. But perhaps some of the Polish users can clarify that, what the situation with de-facto censorship in Poland is. (even if it's not called censorship, de jure, there might be some publication rules that apply for an online store)

There is no game censorship in Poland.

The uncensor patches are mostly simple things that even my mother could install, often linked in the forums of the games themselves. It's really not an obstacle. And GOG does not create a situation wherein uncensor patches don't work.

Frankly, I don't get the whole "if I have to install an uncensor patch, it's not an adult VN" perspective. In some cases it's literally just creating a blank text file. This is nothing like Illusion's censorship and the modding that Hongfire users had to do to make things playable.

Furthermore, even without actual pornographic images, the themes and descriptions can be highly adult. It's not GOG's fault that some people can't imagine things that are being described textually.

What symbols? Hakenkreuze are allowed, unless they are used for glorification for instance. Violence it depends, Gears of War 4 was released uncut, as an example.

letsTPKothers: Anyone know if GOG intends to ever allow adult content games?

There are some really good ones out there these days that put the effort in.

Lots of good Visual novals with tits and ass also.
Add a NSFW mode to access adult titles and sell as appropriate. I don't see a problem.

OR have adult titles sold and have the H-content (if it's not the only point of the title) as a separate addons/extras download to patch on, so you have the VN version and then the full version there.

Quite a few games have split their adult titles to censor so it wouldn't be hard to support both.

Well according my rating, most people in here think violence is good and sex is bad. XD
One day you'll have to explain that to me.

Everything can be justified!

For example, violence is how you kill evil nazis. So that's definitely a good thing!

And sex is how you create more evil nazis. That's definitely a bad thing!

And exposed nipples equal sex, that's how it works.

that's my EXACTLY point
i love it all, and I fail to see how one is good and one is bad and how one is obscene in one isn't.
trying to push either into a label to me is beyond stupid.

and on that note, does anyone know where I can get the nudity mod for Postal?
Sex is only bad if it leads to more people being born... that think that sex is bad.

If you can plant lead into a virtual person's head, I do not see the issue with boffing them.

Anyhow, I have been liking Itch.io and Gamejolt for finding uncensored western takes on hentai games. Most of them aren't finished yet, but seem promising.
