Switched to Mint to try and play FO3. Mint doesn't play any games right out of the box like Zorin did, but Zorin has Wine and PlayOnLinux -I installed both on Mint and will see what happens.

Mint managed to run your wrapper and I get the FO3 start menu, but unsurprisingly (as I have nothing but issues with everything) FO3 wouldn't run just crashed.

A Wine issue perhaps? Wine is crashing on all the games in Mint.

Still, a huge thank you to Adam. We need people supporting gaming for Linux.

If you have the game, may I ask you to check with these games

Baldur's Gate Original Saga
Baldur's Gate 2 Complete

I recently give it a try on Lutris / PlayOnLinux and to my surprise those games stutter and pretty much unplayable. I don't know the issue since last year or so I can play them just fine using wine

Have you tried to install the meta package? It installs the most common needed packages, so having that may help.

(It is linked in the first post in this thread)

As Pangaea666 said, you might want to try installing my common dependencies meta-package. That along with the usual driver & kernel updates should be enough for almost everything to work.

Also make sure you install the correct graphics drivers for your GPU - if using AMD or Intel graphics you should use the open source drivers and to update them you need to install a newer Mesa release and the latest available kernel; for Nvidia you will need to install their proprietary drivers via the Driver Manager. In both cases you'll need to add a PPA to get more recent drivers depending on what you're using - see the first post in this thread for more info & links.

It might also be worth checking out my Mint guide.

If you're still having trouble after updating everything then try running the start script from the terminal (open the wrapper directory in the file manager, then right click and select "open in terminal", then run the command: WINEDEBUG="" ./start.sh play) and see what errors appear.

I haven't looked into making wrappers for those as they have official wrappers already (plus the enhanced editions have native Linux versions) - do they have the same issues? Also have you tested them with GOGWrap?

I don't have enhanced edition. I got these game from giveaways and I think they are good enough for me, at least while they work.

Pardon me, but I don't know about GOGWrap. What is that and where can I get it? I'll give it a try later when I get back home

Edit :
Holy cow. How car I not see that baldur's gate original saga has Linux download???

I'll download it tonight and give it a try tomorrow

It's a generic wrapper I made for testing. The download link for it can be found here:

You can also play them both with gemrb.

Matruchus: The problem is that dxvk only finds the Intel Integrated Graphics Card. My Radeon R9 270x is not listed anywhere when I launch the game.

shmerl: What does vulkaninfo tell you? And what do you see when you run:

VK_INSTANCE_LAYERS=VK_LAYER_MESA_overlay vkcube
It does nothing, even though in pamac manager vulkan radeon mesa drivers are installed.

Matruchus:
Hey, I have a 280X, so very close to your GPU. I just (yesterday) made Vulkan work on it. You will need to change to the AMDGPU drivers and disable the Radeon drivers. Then install the correct Vulkan for both 32 and 64bits.

Exactly how depends on your distro.

Strictly speaking this does not belong here in the wrapper thread...

Do you have i386 version of your dependencies?

Quick question.

Has anyone tried to install https://www.gog.com/game/arcanum_of_steamworks_and_magick_obscura with adamhm's generic gogwrap? Would it be possible to easily install the new unofficial patch (http://terra-arcanum.com/drog/uap.html) just by running the installer script and specifying the patch EXE file as second on install queue or does the gogwrap only accept GOG installers?

I would try this myself but I'm low on time these days, so I'm wondering if anyone has tried or has had some experience with similar situations.

Thanks for any answer!

I'm under impression that gemrb isn't complete. Can you finish the game using gemrb?

I actually found a bit of time and tried this, it works! UAP queues up beautifully after installing the main game, and the whole thing just works!

Unfortunately it's only for 64-bit systems.

GOGWrap doesn't strictly need GOG installers (it just won't be able to automatically name the wrapper when it's used for non-GOG games/other software) & there shouldn't be any issue installing stuff like mods etc. as long as their installers are put after the game installer. You can also install things into the prefix after creating the wrapper by using the start script's run option.
