"Caesar I", a 25 year old game, is now also $6 without the discount. I'm sure there's more.

Activision raised all their prices on Steam a while back. I guess it finally hit here.

Just in time for the summer sale! Oh well, money saved, I guess. My wallet is bled dry anyway and I have lots of shiny, new-ish games to play, thanks to the Bethesda and Capcom one two punch.

They didn't. For some reason, the games were released here with a fixed € price of 5.59. Now that GOG adjusted the currency exchange rate and the euro became stronger, the equivalent $ price is, as a result, higher.

[EDIT] Nevermind, the price increase seems to be just currency fluctuations.

Activision will likely wait until after all sales are complete before increasing prices. Increasing prices right before a sale is illegal in a few countries.

They must do that at least month before the sale. If there's less than month left until the sale they can't increase the price.

It's a strange method to say the least and makes me wonder whether GOG itself made some boo-boos (similarly weird pricing exists with EA games like Mirror's Edge and Crysis).

Indeed, makes one wonder, as this whole "if one pays more than the base price" seems to be pretty... flexible, to put it mildly, so long as it leads to increased prices for the usual suckers.
