Thoughts on this?

Sorry if it's already been posted but I haven't seen it.
I.. don't care.
That's what I think.
With any luck they will collapse under the weight of their own arse.
"Pro Gaming" is why Starcraft 2 is an RTS based around rushing, where playing defensively is an impossible strategy.
And nothing of value was lost:P

The meta is determined by the developers. Obviously they don't want a slow paced game. Given Activision is involved, they want to cater to the "we want results now" crowd. That's why Heroes of the Storm has no depth at all.
I was going to add my opinion of "I never cared for either organisation to begin with" in the original post but I didn't want to set a negative tone...but it turns out neither did you guys. :P
Wait...Major League Gaming is a thing? Like, it actually exists? It's not just a meme? People actually DO this?!

Yeah, meh.

I guess it makes sense for them though, considering Starcraft. I had to check first what "Major League Gaming" even is, I guessed wrong it has something to do with professional American football or basketball or baseball or whatever.

My thought exactly, I thought Activision acquired the meme MLG for some weird reason.

The gameplay/engine of SC2 itself is fantastic, the best pathfinding of any RTS game ever, but when every single game is about cannon rushing or killing workers with zerglings/reapers/adepts it stops being fun, the best matches are drawn-out affairs with massive battles but these are becoming very rare. Thankfully though there's tonnes of great fan-made maps on the Arcade.

I don't even know what Major League Gaming is. I assume it has something to do with e-sport, pro-gaming or whatever. I don't care. I don't care about any sort of sport, so why should I care about this?

Maps where the bases are behind large and long walls?

Of course the GOG community would not care about the E-Sports scene. (And I love EVO to death which thankfully is not part of the MLG)

At worst I think the problem with Activision buying this is the shoehorn more of its games in the spotlight while established game like DOTA 2 and others will be pushed to the side.

Essentially MLG is now just going to be one big adverstisment for Activision Blizzard games so expact more Call of Duty related content.

Not really, because Warp Prisms or Medivacs can still drop units on your workers, and Reapers can jump up onto elevated terrain.
Ya this feels like it was more done to use MLG to advertise Activision products rather than to push and promote video gaming as a legitimate sport. This could also heavily affect future Activision games making them more for the competitive E-sports scenes were they are made to be more visual and fast paced with the viewer being thought of first rather than the actual players.
