If you’ve been hanging around for a while, especially in the <a href=”"http://www.gog.com/games">games tab</a>, you may have noticed that the growing number of items on our virtual shelf was inching closer and closer to our very first thousand - lo and behold, just this week we made it through our first 1k.

We could start off by thanking the Academy, our moms, and hoping for world peace - and it's not that we don't want to say all those things, but before we do, we want to thank the most important people that made it possible - all of YOU. It may sound a bit turgid and you might not believe that we're tearing up a little as we click "publish" on this piece of news, but you guys are the ones that make GOG.com what it is and our reason to continue bringing you more great games.

Before we break out the fruit punch, though, we want to honor those of you who almost caught up with us. We dug through our records and picked fifty users that have the most boxes on their own virtual shelves.

Let's all give an alphabetically ordered round of applause to:

Antarian, astrugar710, atomsword, AutumnYears, baketomato, Barry_Woodward, benjam47, budejovice, CuriousTwoAtGOG, Darthmort, Disciple_of_Doom, djr155, DonCorleon, Gersen, gorrrrrr, Heirgeir, howardtduck2005, ilcollezionista, jabba1971, JDelekto, KajQrd, kiwy, Kodijack, kotokimura, Lafazar, liquidBass, lobo_1, Loenas, maweball, mrkgnao, MTR77, Murfallo, mwmwm, n0nam3, OlK76, onthemike, palyea, Pantoprazol, sbaylus, Serpico, ShadowWulfe, Silvanus2004, soulroar, tippete, TrevWar, turbond, vasyl, VuA, xckx, and ZombieGum.

We will be contacting these guys personally for T-shirt sizes and mailing addresses for a little, personalized thank-you. We are off to celebrate - but before we go, here's to another thousand digital boxes on the GOG.com shelf!
If you guys opened a merch store and sold t-shirts, I'd buy one in a heartbeat. I'd love to spread the good word.

bradgy: Missed cryostasis unfortunately. I am glad I day-1 bought Re-Volt on GOG, that was a childhood favourite and it got pulled almost as soon as it went up.
avatar
vicklemos: Did exactly the same with Re-Volt. Zero regrets: what a great mario kart/arcade racer it is.
Wonder what happened to its rights or whatever...
IIRC the rights holder (or whoever published it on GOG) used a community mod in the build without permission... GOG said they were going to have it back up as soon as possible but I haven't heard anything since.
Thank YOU, GoG!

Your efforts have provided me with boundless nostalgia for the many games I could NOT afford when they first came out! Now, I can play to my heart''s content! Keep up the great work and Congratulations on reaching this plateau! 2000, here we go!

Congratulations on the big one zero zero zero GOG, I have massive admiration for the work you guys and girls do.

PaterAlf: No, for German users it was Afterlife (which is a worthy number 1000 in my eyes).
avatar
Grargar: I know that Afterlife was released before Albedo, but Albedo had a storepage before Afterlife and thus made the counter go 1000. :P
GOG released Afterlife?! Freakin awesome! I love that game even though it is far from a "perfect" city builder. Now I can delete that suspicious "Jolly Roger" version that never worked under a virtual machine anyway. After they got the Lucas Arts catalog I was really hoping for this.

GOG has given me so many nice surprises like this through the years. Maybe we will even get Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom in the future!
And the music in Afterlife is fantastic. I only played the demo but that had two very beautiful tracks. One which was traditional Indian music, and the other something very reminiscent of some composers of some religious renaissance music like that of Ockeghem. Both of them quite fitting for such a *ahem* spiritual game.

I downloaded a couple of tracks from Napster or Audiogalaxy as well. I think those was for the disaster events. One was a track called "When hell freezes over" which was a rather average piece with a christmas flavour. The other one called "Disco Inferno" was a hilarious version of the medieval hymn "Day of Wrath" (Dies Irae). "Day of Wrath" is an often cited (and usually elaborated upon) melody which you can find in as different works as Kubrick's "The Shining", Heroes of Might and Magic 3's necromancer town, Type O Negative's "Creepy Green Light", Liszt's "Totentanz" Bergman's "The Seventh Seal" (Det Sjuende Inseglet) and Berlioz's fantastic "Symphonie fantastique".

mrkgnao: P.S. I have been playing "King's Bounty: The Legend" (for the third time) for the last eight weeks and I'm still not yet halfway through. I actually have enough games to last me multiple lifetimes.
What we need is a store where we can purchase additional lifetime.

In GOG we trust.
Sincere felicitations to gog for achieving this important milestone and congratulations to all those big fifty for their shiny tshirts! ;)
ill applaud for the achievement of gog.com but handing out 50 tshirts gets no applause. Literally because people wtih 500-1000 items spent a couple to a few grand and get no prizes. im not applauding the community either because people are so starry eyed they jump on this "its a hidden gem" in their reviews.
well done on the item sales and overall expansions though

for the negative replys which i will get for a real response, heres a question? Are the 50 tshirts given away hidden gems too?
=}

I dont see any problem with it
Some people just won.

Its the same with lottery tickets.
The more lottery tickets you buy the higher chance to win you have.
Im not getting pissed because somone else won in gambling.
Thanks GoG Team. Keep up the good work :)

Now you have me checking my emails daily instead of monthly lol

Just curious, did any of you guys get anything yet? GOG asked for my address in April, I supplied it, and I last heard from GOG in May, nothing since and I didn't get anything yet.

I'd either contact a blue or support and chase them up on it

You have since dropped in the lists by a good margin ;)
