Sachys: I'd personally like to see more of that - whereby results of the donations / gifts / "prizes" can actually be seen and accounted for.

this is my own opinion here - not neccesarily that of The Sigil in setting this up), the bigger charities are "less in need" of the money - being already well established - and such an amount is likely to have a bigger impact on a smaller organisation.
I agree wholeheartedly, however; said local charities generally don't have the footprint that would allow for deep research to ensure the charity is accountable to its mission.
Although I am weary of large charities I am just as weary with the smaller ones. Without physically seeing your money in action, it is very difficult to discern if a large amount of ones donation is being used in the correct manner these days.
