I want to nominate the Animal Spay/Neuter International

They try to stop overpopulation of stray animals and also educate people how to properly treat their animals.
But the most important thing (for me) is that they provide FREE sterilization for stray animals and for pets of the poor.
On their campaign they say, they have already performed 43000 procedures already, which is astonishing.

I have witnessed them myself 2-3 weeks ago in my own town, they performed on 77 stray pets in less than 48 hours.
Dr Aurelian Stefan was the one we spoke with the most. They only stayed for so little time because of lack of official support.

Since there are many problems around the world that require some specific actions to be solved, and thus, a financial or other help from us... From people, able to help... I want to nominate a worthy charity. So now I am looking for the ones I would definitely donate money myself.

But a quick question before I do. Can I nominate two charities?

First off, I must say I am very grateful for Sigil and chadjenofsky for their valuable contribution.

As for charity, I would like to nominate buildOn. I know some children in my town that have a potential to learn things and express themselves in many areas. But unfortunately, their families are poor and parents simply can't let these kids attend the school. So children go to local libraries to read some books or to learn to use the computer. They are honestly interested in learning.

I also believe that knowledge is power. Even a basic ability to read and write. You would be surprised how many people still can't do that these days. So I see buildOn as a truly helping hand. They operate in US and worldwide. Many children finally have a chance to be educated. What's more, jobs are created.

I think they are doing great work.
I wanted to also nominate Charity: Water, but then I found a few reports about millions of dollars being unaccounted for and a big lack of data on ongoing projects. So decided not to praise 'em. Also, the OP. And thanks for clarifying that.

I chose this charity in honor of the brave men and women who have served in the US Military and became severely injured or disabled during their time of service. This charity's objective is to provide mortgage-free homes for these veterans, specially designed and adapted for their needs; making it easier for them to live more regular, independent lives again. After the sacrifices that they have made while defending our country, I see this as a deserving gift for the less-fortunate war vets.

Guys... gals... this is for charity. This is for the less fortunate in life.

To be honest, I don't know if mine qualifies. The rules regarding which charity is quite confusing to me. I just hope mine is.

But it does make sense. We are living in a time where everything costs money. Moving, drinking, breathing - everything. Even to pay someone money does cost money. Well, at least for me it makes sense that some of the gathered money goes to administrating, which actually covers a lot of things.

Well, if the administration cost is 10%, 15% then it still make sense. But if for every dollar you donate, less then half goes to the less unfortunate, it make no sense.

And if half of the donation goes to transportation fees to bring the supplies to the less unfortunate, that make sense. If it goes to admin and CEOs...... in the age of internet and software automation where you can employ less staff, it make no sense. We can see kickstarter backer kit to know how software reduced the admin needs.

In most cases, yes - though we'll run that ourselves and if needs be get someone to check it over.

It's been very difficult for me to find a charity to nominate for this giveaway: Not because I'm uncharitable, or because there aren't so very many that deserve it, but because I've been hesitant to nominate one that I'm not personally familiar with. Given that, and the fact that we moved across states just over a year ago... it's been quite a search.

Having said that, I've finally found one that I feel I can support: The Sheriff Lopey Foundation

I'm nominating this one not because I'm personally familiar with it, but because it's a local group that's involved with the area I grew up in in several different ways. I personally may not agree with the group's founder on some things, but I think that he and the group are trying very hard to give back to an area in California that is largely rural and has been hard-hit over the last few decades by things ranging from losing logging business to numerous wildfires. Located in Weed, California, this group does a lot of "little" things, from helping with donations to victims of the Boles Fire, which destroyed or damaged 200 homes in the small town, to getting chairs for special needs children in local classrooms, as well as providing funds for programs for senior citizens and people in need.
