Honestly never understood why people would want to remove games from thier library (even freebies) to begin with. It's not like they take up real space (as boxes and discs) or there is any negative side effect of having them.

But guess some people are just weird in that regard (at least when it would come to games on GOG, for Steam I could somewhat understand that you'd like to remove X amount of impulse purchased shovelware / early-access never finished games, or just that nasty gifted copy of "Bad Rats" you inadvertantly accepted because it was a free gift...)


But if you absolutely want to, just follow the steps mentioned by Konrad.


Sidenote: Keep in mind that Dragonsphere is no longer free, thus if you change your mind, you now would have to actually buy it.

This post reminds myself of "me", about 15 years ago. I ritually started getting rid of all the games I "thought" I would never play again, or maybe played them a bit, didn't finish them, and ended up tossing them out. TOSSING THEM OUT! Real, physical, discs and floppies with boxes and manuals! GONE! HOW COULD I BE SO STUPID?

My younger self did a LOT of foolish things. But most of all... I never thought about the future. I never thought, "Hmmm... I wonder if games will start sucking so bad in the future that I'll relish this present-day game? Maybe I should keep it?" Nope, never did that. Never thought that. I just tossed them out.

So now future-me (so much smarter!) ended up (gladly!) repurchasing many digital games I used to own physical copies of, and I never get rid of any digital games. They don't take up any physical space, and who knows what the future will bring? Maybe some Nobody from Pumpkin Center will develop mad mod skillz and take that game you just thought sucked AND TURN IT INTO THE BEST GAME EVER.

So yeah, this post is a little off-topic. But every once in awhile, take a look into the future and never second-guess what future-you is going to want. Or regret.

If GOG were given the option to simply click a button like on Steam, I'd be less inclined to buy here as well. I contacted Steam on the matter of possible hijack, followed by permanent removal and they haven't responded in over two months. I like peace of mind, and I'm pretty tight about security.

The option to permanently remove digital games is just dumb, especially in the extremely 'convenient' method you're given. GOG's methods for hiding, or even tagging (this game is dead to me etc.) are just fine.

As in the permanent removal of games you mean? Not really an issue as the same process implemented in support for removing them also can reinstate them if you follow it later. It's more like an advanced hide feature.

really? I contacted support about a game I removed as part of that ticket. I don't want the game back, but the fact that they couldn't tell me there's a possibility is a bit off. To call it 'advanced' is a bit silly, though. What happens if I forget what the game's called or something? What happens if support is just too busy to handle my request to get my game back?
Here I can just look through my hidden 200+ games whenever I want, which I do from time to time if I feel bored. I'll see something I might want to go back to after so long, and all I need to do is download it again.

They're just making up for all the update notifications we WOULD HAVE gotten if the devs hadn't let the GOG version get so far out of date. :P

I call it advanced because there's already a 'hide' option in your library. But for some that still wasn't enough apparently as it was still a regular thing to see people talking about sending in support tickets to remove their games from their profile entirely. So now you can remove them yourself in the support section. It's an automated process, same as the reversal as far as I know, so how busy support is should be irrelevant.
Here I can just look through my hidden 200+ games whenever I want, which I do from time to time if I feel bored. I'll see something I might want to go back to after so long, and all I need to do is download it again.
If you just want to hide your games then of course just use the hide option and check the 'hidden games' section in your library, same thing.

You cannot actually permenantly remove a licence from your steam account - just your view (and that of anyone but people at valve with access to your account).

Thus, if hijacked / hacked / phished etc... your games are safe.
