my name is catte: Oh, it sounds like they didn't bother to remove all the calls. As long as it isn't opening Steam by itself it shouldn't be too much of a problem. There are games on GOG that will communicate with Steam IF Steam is running, but if you close Steam then it doesn't so I don't see a huge problem.
This exclusivity business sucks though. Pun not intended.
RoboPond: It didn't seem to but I like games to have calls removed as they are supposed to be DRM free so why are they still calling home? So it made me not want to buy anything else from them, as its no different to me than owning it on CD as I'll still have to fix it. This exclusivity business sucks though. Pun not intended.
For the game on GOG that does this the developer explained that they made a single "universal version" that can talk to Steam if it's running, Galaxy if it's running or neither if they're not running and the game works in all cases. I don't see that as DRM because neither the presence nor the absence of Steam or Galaxy affects the running of the game.
