ChrisGamer300: Not any different than lootboxes generate higher revenue than the games sales and the acceptance of drm, yes i don't like these trends in gaming but it is what it is and most people will never care even though their behavior might fire right back at them some day.
If you buy on hype and pre order then don't complain if you get burned, if you're fine with that then go ahead and i don't care anymore because it's useless trying to talk sense in the masses who just buy what they want and never think twice about the future effect it could have because corps go where the money is regardless of pro consumerism.
Bad trends will not go away unfortunately, best you can do is supporting the least terrible ones, hype and pre orders in the grand scheme of things isn't all that bad and it hurts those that gets carried away by it.
This is absolutely true, most if not all of my pre-order and hype purchases were absolute concious decisions where I've asked myself several times if its really a sensible purchase even if I only spend like 4 bucks. So if I bought something that I may not like it for very cheap, and it turned out to be a bad game, then that simply was money not well spent. However, even if 98% of the time I was happy by my concious pre order decision, yet for the 2% I only had myself to blame. People should always take personal responsibility first. I have a vague feeling that "internet entitlement" in general stems from the feeling that personal responsibility somehow fully ceased to exists at some point. This is also why a lot of people online cling to famous internet people and simply because having no responsibility means you have to blame some other tribe for any sort of mistake. I might be wrong with this however but social media does amplify this sort of behavioral patters quite accurately.
More then often however, my own concious decision to go against what the famous Youtubers or Twitchstreamers say was fruitful. Sometimes even some overpriced "terrible" game turned out to be something I've kept played for 50+ hours.
This doesn't mean that "going with the crowd" is something bad, more power to them. But this approach of following the largest voice, more than often, is not for everybody at all.
zeroxxx: Sad people are people like you who think what's best for others people completely disregarding their own preferences. If they want to play Fortnite / PUBG more power to them. They're the ones playing not you. They don't judge you.
I'm with you as well. I don't like stuff like social media for instance but if people kept drawn in regarding these sites I don't object. Living a life is a process of learning. It took years for me to understand what social media does to people and how evil it actually is.
This doesn't mean that those who use these sites are evil however.
I'd rather dive in deep and blame the very core of the issue rather than innocent people. The same thing applies to Lootboxes (blame the companies who force devs to implement them) and pre-orders (blame the companies who put those pre-orders up too early). However, if someone enjoys partaking in those activities I feel that such a thing is 100% fine.
