Recently I platinumed Broken Age and Grim Fandango on the Vita, and I put SCUMMVM on my psp - it's a lot easier to finish games when playing them on a handheld since you can play them while watching tv, or won't get distracted through the web browser on your computer lol.

anyway hg101 released a book on point and click/adventure games. A lot of the articles are posted on their website too.

I can't believe I didn't think of recommending The Journey Down! I enjoyed the first two enough that I backed the third one on Kickstarter

I'm in. Let me tell you about Infested. If you've ever played (the NES versions of) the Macventure games (e.g. Shadowgate) you'll get a kick out of this. Or maybe even if you're just into sci-fi. Anyway, go play it, it's not too long and it's free.

Also, um, you should definitely use random.org instead of random.com...

Hope you have a happy birthday this year. As to game recommendations, I have been playing Grid, Banished, SimCity 4 and NWN1 a lot lately. I know they are not exactly what you are looking for, except maybe NWN, but there you are.

Just came to say that scientists recently proved that "The Longest Journey" is the game that will rule the genre, forever.

You, good sir, have obviously never played Grim Fandango.

Point and click games I'd like to play but have not would be Last Express and Resonance. Both are here on GOG, and I did play the demo of Resonance (available on the wadjet site, IIRC)

Lived up to its name, at least.

The Longest Journey's opening cutscene was pretty good.
Too bad the game crashed right after every time. :P

Joking aside, the Longest Journey is a great game, with incredibly rich and detailed worlds and cool story. The only thing anyone can say against it is about a couple of really convoluted puzzles :D.
And the long cutscenes, I guess, which is what I was referring to. In all seriousness, I remember the first time I played it, I got called away during the cutscene in the middle of the game, and was somewhat miffed that there was no way to pause it during the cutscene. After doing whatever work I had been called away for, I returned to my computer (it had been at least half an hour, I think), and without the benefit of skipping dialogue lines after having read them and instead letting them go at their own pace, the cutscene still wasn't over :D.

I love The Longest Journey and Dreamfall series, GrimFandango, Monkey Island, Deponia... but I don't know about new point and click adventure (the only one I'm waiting for right now is Dreamfall Chapters book 5).

As for point-n-click games I've played recently, well I've played some freeware ones recently as I was weirdly enough in a mood for freeware games, but also some commercial ones-here's the list in no particular order(some of the games coincide with ones others here played, in which case I quote them):

- Nelly Cootaloot Spoonbeaks Ahoy!: I found this one when sunshinecorp did his awareness campaign about the sequel (Fowl Fleet) and played it a few days ago. Liked the humor and the characters, and even the premise, despite the fact I'm not very fond of animals in real life. And it's free too. Wonder whether the sequel will be as good...

-I also started yesterday Raven:Legacy of a Master Thief. The plot is quite nice and the characters are realistic -my only pet peeve is that for some objects it isn't immediately evident that they are clickable e.g. they might be small (and for this reason the game has the option of highlighting all possible hotspots at a cost of "adventure points" -a bunch of number which are 1000 at the start of the game -I'd rather not spend any of them though, want to keep my nice round 1000 points as they are)...

I played this last summer (not exactly recently then) and was rather nice as well, though I needed a walkthrough in some places...

I also played and finished Infested barely a week ago (what a coincidence!). I liked it as well for the same reasons. More games should have this type of interface imo...

I'm not much of an adventure or point and click player, though I did play a few. Recently, or actually over a year ago (woah... where did that time go?) I played and finished Teenagent, and I would recommend it if you can look past its quirks.

I like point & click games but I'm not fan of the new releases which are too focus on the retro-pixel art style or played with the nostalgia of die-hard fans with remakes of classics just for money.

I recommend you :
For the classics : Sam & Max Hit the Road, Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, Space Quest 6, Sanitarium, Harvester, The Ripper, Shadow of the Comet, Alone in the Dark 1, Gabriel Knight 2 : The Best Within.
For the new releases : Sam & Max from TellTale games, The Cat Lady, Gray Matter, Edna and Harvey serie.

Edit : Paradise from Benoit Sokal is also a must to play for a Syberia fan (but hard to find a retail version nowadays) ; )
