Is anyone familiar with any of the games in Fanatical's Mega Bundle 2? I see some people bought the bundle and then dropped games they didn't want in the GA thread.

Dogmaus: I agree with you about GotD - I stopped caring for giveaway of the day because the quality is really low generally, and the activation method is not worth the effort. Some games are not even worth of being permanently free on itch.io, at best it's Alawar stuff you can get on Big Fish with a free game code.
I still grab the occasional Big Fish games from them, if they sound okay enough. For a while now they have been getting FP shooter games from Juri.io on a regular basis, which seem okay, and none of those come with the Setup.gcd file, unlike the Big Fish ones. I get a daily email from GGOTD, and if the game sounds crap I don't even check the web page out ... which happens a lot.

I can't find this juri.io
speaking of stores full of free shovelware I don't care for, the Microsoft store is one of those too

sure, I think I've bought a few in the past and donated some keys to the GA
I kinda stopped when I started having a huge preference for having games on GOG, but I got some good deal like the F.E.A.R. collection for less than 5 euros, and I even got F.E.AR. on GOG with Connect out of it. But since those times Connect is unlilely to happen much anymore. My last lucky one was Charm.

Sorry I misremembered the name slightly. https://game.giveawayoftheday.com/shooter-arena-in-ruins/

This was the last one they had at GGOTD - https://jurij.itch.io/shooter-arena-in-ruins

ah but that's itch.io

Technically it's Jurij Games with a presence at Itch.io.

Even so, you pay for their games at Itch.io, while they are free at GGOTD.

for a short time. Well, that's the point of a freebie. Compare it to Killing Time, that is on sale here but permanently free and with an exclusive updated version on Zoom. Also, on itch.io you can install the game any time you want, on the other you can only activate it in the same day they gift it. So if you uninstall it's gone and you must rebuy it from itch.io if you want to play it again, or on a new computer. The general quality of those games and the annoying activation system are something that has made me lose every interest. At this point I'll probably pass on a good game too from that site. 10 years ago maybe it was OKish to get a match 3 game for free under those conditions, but now...

Dogmaus: for a short time.
Hence why I do use the program I mentioned with the ones I do bother to get ... that gives you an installer you can use any time.
But like I also said, it seems about half of the games they provide, don't require same day activation, despite what they say on the GGOTD page for the game. I'm not entirely sure, but when the downloaded zip file doesn't contain a Setup.gcd file the game doesn't require activation ... at least with the few I've checked.

From what I have seen, the Jurij games don't come with the encrypted Setup.gcd file, so can be installed any time ... though I will confirm that, because I can't recall if I tested them in particular.

EDIT
I can confirm that last game, Shooter Arena In Ruins, was just a setup.exe and readme.txt file, and installed fine without needing activation, though when I tried to run it, it complained about my version of Windows ... this is 32 bit Win 7 and not my gaming PC. I also wasn't connected to the web when I did it, and no complaint about that. So not a complete test, but not the usual GGOTD online activation confirmation before install allowed. But I guess when the game starts it might want to check online. The readme.txt file also only has one sentence, unlike the multiple sentences of the other ones, that mention all the activation stuff and time limit.

Well that's interesting. After installing that game, Shooter Arena In Ruins, I noticed one of the web links on my desktop said - Free Games Downloads!

I thought I would check it out - http://falcoware.com/
Never been there before, and it seems to have a big collection of free games, but no idea how good they are, though on appearance alone a good number seem like they might be okay.

Anyway, I checked out their Shooters page, which seemed to have a ton of free goodies - http://falcoware.com/shooter_games.php

Then I did a search for that game, Shooter Arena In Ruins, and found it and its sequel.

https://falcoware.com/ShooterArenaInRuins.php

https://falcoware.com/ShooterArenaInRuins2.php

So at this point, maybe the site and games need further investigation, and maybe it is goodbye to GGOTD ... especially as I probably have enough Big Fish games to last me a good long while.

Sure, if you find a good game on GAotD with no times activation that's good. Tbh I have more than enough among EPIC, Big Fish and the occasional GA elsewhere.
Malwarebytes doesn't let me open falconware saying that it contains adware so I'm good :)

Possibly just those weblinks installed to the desktop, which are easily enough removed.

Anyway, for those might be interested, GGOTD have another game currently by that Jurij developer, free for next 17 hours or so.

Epic is being of little interest. A double gift reclycled from last April, For the King, and a recent GOG freebie, Metro Exodus Last Light. Next week another title that has little appeal for me - but who knows, I like to have things I might try but I would not normally buy, it's always a way to expand our own interests.

they will release some good stuff for a spring sale don't worry just be patient
The Kingdom Come free documentary is not the one about sworrdfighting as I would have preferred but still nice to have.
Ubisoft Connect is down so I can't clain Assassin's Creed Chronicles China.
It was given already in 2019 so I might have it but I can't even log in and check.
I'm reading a review that says that it's more of a Mark of the Ninja like platformer, so it sounds more interesting for me than other titles in the series.
I'll try to let you know then the server is up again, if you have info please post :)
