Big changes are here.

My Account is the heart of your GOG.com experience. It's the one place that's 100% yours, and the place you always go to download your games and manage the entire library.
Starting today, your My Account is completely new - remade and redesigned from scratch to better support our growing library of games and many of your biggest requests. Aside from every usability fix we could think of, we've also introduced brand new tools to keep your library organised, and new social features to stay in touch with your friends.

The list of new features is long, but you can see the whole thing on our forums. The most important highlights include:

--Support for friends lists and chat.
--Shared wishlists.
--Advanced filtering and custom tags for your library.
--A new, detailed order history.
--Accessible game changelogs.

We're sure that these new changes will greatly improve your overall user experience on GOG.com, and we can't wait to hear what you think on the wishlist and right here in the comments!

HypersomniacLive: You could ask Judas to edit that bit into the Wish entry, this way it will be more visible (people don't always read the comments). He has helped me edit a couple of wishes in the past. Normally, this is where I'd say "just PM him", but you can't anymore, so... chat him? (yikes!)
Did that ... and of course I run into the "Enter sends the message" trap although I knew about it. :/

Is there a wish list entry to make that behavior configurable? I did not find one on a quick view.

I'm still putting together my feedback on the whole Chat system, and was thinking of creating a Wishlist entry afterwards, that would combine a few necessary improvements. There's already one entry for the size of the text box, and I'm not a fan of scattering things all over the Wishlist. But if you, or anyone else, wants to create an entry, go ahead.
I've added a wish list entry for all the troubled people like me which accidentally hitting the Enter key in the chat window:

Chat: Make sending a message with Enter configurable
Does anyone know why they replaced the messages by the chat instead of just well ... adding the new function?
Normally, I don't use any chat software at all but eMails and PMs instead, often quite long walls of text.
I don't have anything against adding stuff but why exactly does it have to replace something more useful?

Artoemius: I'm especially unhappy about the replacement of PMs with a chat. PMs were like emails. A chat implies real-time conversations. They are not the same thing. As someone who writes a lot of long emails and forum posts and blog comments, but almost never participates in online discussions in real time, I'm absolutely sure they are not equivalent.
This bothers me too. I created a wishlist entry. My first.

Sorry, for once I've been too fast.

Hello GOG you wonderful wonderful people.

I love the idea there is a URL for the wishlist so others can see, would it also be possible to perhaps consider the same for the library so I can show friends what is in my library ?

Thank you :)
Alright, so I've had my first experience with the Chat feature today... and honestly, I didn't notice much of a difference. I think its name is more scary than the actual feature itself - just "Messages" or something of the sort would've been fine.

(The usage was the same as for PMs, that is - code gifting.)

The text window should probably be bigger, though.

I guess for compatibility with Galaxy as an online communication makes more sense there (e.g. for arranging multiplayer matches). And GOG did not want to maintain two separate systems.

I voted although I don't think the wishlist is more like this for a few years.

I seriously wonder if anybody really thought this would be a good idea, I mean... did somebody actually say "let's get rid of the message system, people are used to SMS and twitter and can't think in more than a few words anymore so replace it with a chat system" oO?

Remembering some of my more lenghty dialogues I'd have to scroll several pages now inside of a single message.

Is this a theory or did someone from the team say that?
Too bad for those that don't want to use a client or are using Linux and don't have a client anyway.
It can't be too complicated getting the client to access the same mailbox as was used for the old messages, or can it?

I've not figured a way to put spaces between paragraphs. In the old PM system, you hit Enter and it left a line space. Now if you do that it sends the chat message. Drives me crazy. I'd prefer they have both PMs and Chat, if they insist on a damned Chat feature.

russellskanne: Can someone enlighten me what this manual-sorting buzz is all about? I own nearly 150 games here on gog and never felt the urge to use this feature (I didn't even know it existed).
You can now search for games and create tags. So how is that different to the old design?
avatar
HypersomniacLive: Manual sorting is about one's ability to organise their entire library the way it made the most sense to them.

Searching and tags are fine, but they can't replace manual sorting. Some people care only about searching and filtering, others care about having better control of their entire library, some care about both. It was an option useful to many that was scrapped with no alternative put in its place.

And since we're on the subject, I'll add the relevant Wishlist entries for anyone that would like to vote, and has missed them:

- Manual sorting

- Keep or bring back manual sorting

- Bring back game boxes in the game shelf

There's also an entry regarding the return of he old PM system; I haven't yet given feedback on the Chat system, but I'll leave the Wishlist entry here regardless:

Restore the old PM system
Voted for all of them! I really miss the manual sorting. Now it looks like the whole catalogue of my games is not mine. I cannot make sense of it. I spent hours to sort everything manualy and I felt a joy everytime I looked at it (on one page obviously). After unbundling I spent more hours to fix everything back (> 600 games). Then shorlty after this all my effort is in vain. No joy when I look at the shelf any more. .

Anyway, there are some very usefull new features added and thanks for that BUT this particular one I miss the most. I still believe that it will be back soon.
