Big changes are here.

My Account is the heart of your GOG.com experience. It's the one place that's 100% yours, and the place you always go to download your games and manage the entire library.
Starting today, your My Account is completely new - remade and redesigned from scratch to better support our growing library of games and many of your biggest requests. Aside from every usability fix we could think of, we've also introduced brand new tools to keep your library organised, and new social features to stay in touch with your friends.

The list of new features is long, but you can see the whole thing on our forums. The most important highlights include:

--Support for friends lists and chat.
--Shared wishlists.
--Advanced filtering and custom tags for your library.
--A new, detailed order history.
--Accessible game changelogs.

We're sure that these new changes will greatly improve your overall user experience on GOG.com, and we can't wait to hear what you think on the wishlist and right here in the comments!

KISSMAD: Why are the games I paid with PayPal coming up as (PAID WITH Free Order)?
When they did their site update they lost a bunch of my gifted games (including some my brother is being a pain about redeeming...). All of the ones that I had to ping support to get added back say PAID WITH Free Order while they were all paid with credit card.

I suspected that's just the database default if something's wonky on the record.

I'm wondering if they recorded credit card separately from PayPal or the other option that I don't remember due to the fact that credit cards are easier to use fraudulently. Possibly this just exposed an old database entry that was just meant for that and they never bothered recording the other fields before. I'd be curious if it records paid with Paypal for newly bought games or not, too.

I just purchased the Darksiders package, which is how I found out about the interface changes, leading me to this thread. Just checked, and it does show Darksiders purchase as 'PAID WITH PAYPAL'

avatar
Kerchatin: I got this too.
About half of my games that I paid with paypal show up as 'Free Order' and the other half do actually show up as paid with paypal.
All of my purchases before 16th November 2014 are (PAID WITH FREE ORDER), the rest are (PAID WITH PAYPAL)

I don't understand why the full version number of the games are not displayed. It would make it easier to identify if a game has been updated from the owners own files. Instead you have to click on the download link and wait for the file to appear just to see the full version number.
Just tallied my entire order history, and it totaled:

$1133.68 USD (Current exchange makes this $1370.85 CAD)

That's how much I've spent at GOG.com since opening my account.
I don't care what else you add, all I want is my manually-sorted library back. The way it was. If not, give us the option to sort it on ONE page like it was, and I'll once again spend hours re-sorting it the way *I* want it. You know, because

Kerchatin: Using the regular gog downloader is now a pain, and a little confusing. I don't see any reason why you can't keep the download links/buttons on the main page for a game, next to the 'try galaxy'.
It's because, even though they aren't going to deliberately break the downloader, you can be sure it's going to break soon™ - so by having the downloader links reached off the droplist, all they have to do is edit the droplist once when it does break, instead of for every game page.
Some positive things are being attempted here, which is nice, but all of this feels unfinished. If you guys are trying to do some kind of agile rollout where new features are delivered iteratively, the communication on this should be reconsidered.

The response would be more tempered if there was a clearer list of the "coming soon" items that seem like no-brainers (for example, being able to add friends in some manner other than clicking on a forum post).

Good luck, but truly, please think about how these rollouts are managed and messaged out to your user base.

airnmusic: Saw someone asking about it on the first pages, but did not find a reply: where are the messages sent to other users before the layout changed? I believe I still had a couple of game codes to be redeemed and can't find it anywhere now.
avatar
DyNaer: if it's gog gift codes there :

https://www.gog.com/account/settings/orders

uncheck all boxes except the one with unredeemed gifts

the losts PMs will be readded later.
Thank you very much for the link, that's really helpful. +1

I sent out a lot of gift codes just before the PM's went into hiding, and at least now I can post a link in the thread so those who didn't receive the PM know where to look for their code.

DieRuhe: Where did "messages" go?

edit: ZenWan, if you're reading this, thanks for the Red Faction games!

(I don't get it. I go to the "messages" thingy, but what do we do with it? Can you only send messages to "friends"?)
Got it, thanks, DieRuhe - and the 'chat' as well. GOG say that messages will be restored soon. Meanwhile you can send a 'message' which is actually a 'chat' by hovering over a person's avatar and clicking on 'send message' - provided the person has not changed that setting to allow chats with 'friends only' or 'nobody'.

You can always post in that thread, it's the best way to reach me. Still some missing, it was a bad time to be giving out gift codes.

You have to go to Orders and Settings and click on Privacy on the left. Then you can decide on your chat and wishlist settings. Wish there was a way to change the online setting that is visible to everyone, would like that to be private as well.

I like the new features, I won't complain about those but the library doesn't feel like a library anymore. It just feels like I'm looking at the store or an extension of the store. I prefer the classic look and also the fact that out of all the hundreds of games I own I could just scroll down and find it instead of taking the extra time to sift through pages or do a search. In adding some of the new features I feel like some of the simplicity of the old have been lost, ironically, since this is all supposed to make things easier and it doesn't feel that way in that aspect. It would be nice to see an option to change back to the old library but also keep the newer features.

Refunds for orders before the cut-off date would fix it! :-)

Any chance for manual sorting coming back? Because...
avatar
Siilk: Shelves with manual sorting was what made people like gog account view in the first place and treat it as, well, their "game library", a place where you can hop in from time to time just to have a look at their collection instead of just downloading the game they bought and forgetting about account page.
... and I had a wonderfully invented, meticulously crafted system that made me all giddy inside. And you horrible creatures killed it! (pardon if it's been answered 42 times already)

As of right now, no. If and whether it comes back, I do not know.
What's with all this "My Account", "My Settings" and so on?

Firstly, most of us are older than 8 years old.

Secondly, it's the wrong possessive adjective (the correct one being "Your"), since these things supposedly belong to me, not my computer or your web server (whichever one of these you might consider to be the party serving me).

This is definitely not good news at all, and not very personalized in that respect.
