Big changes are here.

My Account is the heart of your GOG.com experience. It's the one place that's 100% yours, and the place you always go to download your games and manage the entire library.
Starting today, your My Account is completely new - remade and redesigned from scratch to better support our growing library of games and many of your biggest requests. Aside from every usability fix we could think of, we've also introduced brand new tools to keep your library organised, and new social features to stay in touch with your friends.

The list of new features is long, but you can see the whole thing on our forums. The most important highlights include:

--Support for friends lists and chat.
--Shared wishlists.
--Advanced filtering and custom tags for your library.
--A new, detailed order history.
--Accessible game changelogs.

We're sure that these new changes will greatly improve your overall user experience on GOG.com, and we can't wait to hear what you think on the wishlist and right here in the comments!
I have my browser zoomed in because is difficult to me to see small text, and it seems kind of broken. I think you should take a look at it, and try to accomodate the website's interface for bigger font sizes.

mintee: for others like me that are bemoaning the loss of manual sorting, I made sure to tag all games in the order that I like them just in case (and hope that tags dont get lost in future updates)
I've seen it posted a couple times now that tags are limited to 50 total.

Is that your use case (you have 50 or fewer games)?

I wonder if this 'tag them in my preferred order' would even work for more than 50 games if the limit is indeed 50..
avatar
mintee: in your library in list style there is a tab after MODE called TAGS, there you can pull up whatever tags you made plus the standard ones and it will then sort those games out for you.

adambiser: Ah, but still letting it do the sorting for you then? I'm wanting to change the order of the sort so that games in a collection are together when I look at the overall shelf. I could tag them and might do so as a partial workaround.

EDIT: OK, maybe I'll understand the tag sorting you mention better when I have time to try it.
I have confidence that they will allow us to manual sort in the future due to the number of requests, unless there is a tech reason they dropped it. fingers crossed

Oh god, and here I was wondering when you'd get the nice shelf view with manual sorting supported in Galaxy and instead you've ported the horrible library from Galaxy back to the site. Yuck.

Bring back boxes and manual sorting please!

I hope so... I also miss the 'portrait' shaped game boxes. Not a fan of these 'squat' ones.

WalterwickJack: But seriously. Every privacy setting ever should default to the highest level of privacy at the start. Why wouldn't it be that way? Otherwise you are assuming I want to share my wishlist and chat with random people without actually asking me or getting my permission first. Don't do that. I do not want to do that. I want to have full control of privacy from the start.
Fully agree.

If there's anything inevitable, it's that a website is going to mess up and change folks settings from the user-choice to the default (usually without a clue to the account holder that it happened).

So here on GOG when it inevitably messes up, it's going to be to a sucky less-private setting.

Thanks again GOG!
Oh and, i just noticed (painfully): thanx for the gog downloader links being bugged now... the galaxy client is still BETA ! what is this madness putting in effect a still beta stuff and shutting down or crippling the previous tool before being sure the "optional BETA" stuff is finalized ?

sometimes i may want to download something without installing it on the computer i'm downloading from !

and also, the downloads through gog galaxy are bigger size (exemple Dyad: 1 gb roughly through downloader, latest version... tested this weekend... install through galaxy: 1.5 gb... +50% size to download...)
No manual sorting is really annoying for me (not to mention that I spent at least an hour in resorting when you unbundled the game boxes before).
I sorted my games not chronologically or after genres, I sorted them afer themes (e.g. historical, cyberpunk, grimdark fantasy, humorous games etc.)

The old boxes and shelf design looked a lot better, too.

It almost seems like....well we can't have the nice library via Galaxy so they need to downgrade Classic Gog.Because nothing about Classic Gog may be allowed to remain more cool than Galaxy. On the contrary.
Thanks for adding changelogs and putting a proper version on the game entry (with GOG version now called GOG-x).

jester59388: A question for those who have successfully used tagging as a proxy for the old manual sort:

What if I have my games all sorted in the order I want them. Then a new release in the series comes along -- say Monkey Island 3. I want this next to Monkey Island 2 and before Tales of Monkey Island for obvious reasons. Does this mean I now have to go back and re-tag EVERY game that comes after it on the shelf to keep them in proper order?
You can't sort your games by tags. You can only filter them, hiding those that have unchecked tags.

i didnt even think of ordering each game in sequence with a tag, that would be way too complicated for those with hundreds of titles.

I did however make sequential tags and applied them to a given title, ex. 1st in sequence (for some reason gog left off 1st which can be confusing as 1st installments can have funky names diff from the rest of the titles), 2nd etc. with some even more in depth explanation in a second tag for odd ball orderings or personal preference of order.

its not perfect, if you need to find the 3rd installment of a series you just need to sort the tags for '3rd sequence', but that will yield a handful of titles from which you can find your next game easily. its doable until they allow us to manual again.

This! I painstakingly put my shelf back after 'The Unbundling' and now they've even removed the option for manual sorting.
There are some fantastic changes, but... Where are all of my messages? I had some game codes stored in there. ^_^;

one thing that really puzzles me is the way the library is displayed:

the library and the store have same design... and it is rather confusing...

I would rather like a clearly distinct design or display of my account library compared to the store (yet not purchased) stuff...

Also the gog downloader links that still are there are rather unconvenient now:
* bugged for some of them (initializing forever)
* separate webpage in same window (means you have to hit "back" on browser and redo the same sorting or filtering you were doing earlier
* no way anymore to see if an installer is the same for every supported langages OR if two distinct installers (and game version / revision) exist for two different langages...

Seriously, i like gog dudes (tech support is just flawless so far, and such) but who is the monkey you just hired as PR ? what is this "optional-but-you-have-no-other-choice-left-so-bear-it-and-shut-up thing" ?
Is it the same guy that said "hey, lets compete with steam on the stupidity and lack of ergonomy department", now we are on par "same mess on both stores, no need to go steam we offer the same frustration here" ?

In my world, optional means you have choice "not to" use it
In my job, BETA means "not good enough yet for official launch" and implies the need to KEEP the prior-beta state or tool working as before.
Order History-NICE!
Option to make the wishlist public-NICE!
Still no full-Wood-Background for the new interface... NOT NICE! :( :( :(
