Big changes are here.

My Account is the heart of your GOG.com experience. It's the one place that's 100% yours, and the place you always go to download your games and manage the entire library.
Starting today, your My Account is completely new - remade and redesigned from scratch to better support our growing library of games and many of your biggest requests. Aside from every usability fix we could think of, we've also introduced brand new tools to keep your library organised, and new social features to stay in touch with your friends.

The list of new features is long, but you can see the whole thing on our forums. The most important highlights include:

--Support for friends lists and chat.
--Shared wishlists.
--Advanced filtering and custom tags for your library.
--A new, detailed order history.
--Accessible game changelogs.

We're sure that these new changes will greatly improve your overall user experience on GOG.com, and we can't wait to hear what you think on the wishlist and right here in the comments!
yes i agree many changes arent (yet) for the better

The transactions list is a plus, its cool to see what and when i bought gifted and redeemed stuff.

the rest i have to try a little longer before i can give a answer.

missing PM is a great loss, i hope it returns as it was with my old pm aswell
Spent the last two hours tagging and sorting my extensive library. Now at the drop of a hat I can pull up whatever games I wish to pull up, no matter how piggly the tag I made, and believe me I made more than a few. :P

absolutely wonderful.

THANK YOU

only have a very teeny tiny suggestion which would be a return to the page you left function when you pull up any of the " MORE" menu on the game download page, as it stands now if you forget to right/click 'open in a new tab' you lose your place/game that you were researching on and have to wend your way back, and for those of us with pages of games can be a tad tiring.

but as i said its teeny, I still love all the improvements.

cheers!

Chorean: So, I do not hate the new Design in general... But it would be awesome to give the option to change the library into the old outfit. I sorted my games (over 130) by hand so they looked good in the shelf. And now... I only can sort them by purchase date and title. Please bring the old library (as an optional feature) back.
There is already a vote for the old library:

adambiser: Look at "Orders & Settings", drop down the filters list under "Orders History". Redeemed Gifts + Unredeemed Gifts filters are what you want to leave checked.

Definitely not as handy as before.
I didn't realize I had to play a hidden object point & click.
Thanks.

glad to see you like it...

i have to get used to it, and that takes some time being old fashion as i am.
Wow.

I really like the sorting and tagging features that have been added, but I kind of miss my GOG shelf.
I'm pretty happy with all of those changes. Yeah, GOG Galaxy is clunky in some ways right now, but all of those missing or bad things like sorting games in library can be fixed in next updates. Also, it's good to see more bigger (newer) games in GOG catalog, because seriously guys, I'm thinking about switching from Steam to GOG.

Tagging I see, but how can you sort the library? I see only the "title" and "purchase date" sort options, but I lost the manual sorting I did after they unbundled the games.

The shelf looks like I can buy games from my own account, I know what I bought gog, no need to help me figure out on what platform I can play them.
Bring back the old shelf.
And I lost all the private messages I got for some reason ô_ô
Not cool

Martek: Yes, it's optional, meaning all these Galaxy-inspired website-changes that take away options don't really exist. We're all just imagining these 'fully optional' changes that aren't optional and that take away functionality from the website - whether we use Galaxy or not.

Yes, optional.. say that word enough times and it starts to sound weird..

synfresh: I'm sure it's not the last change either. From a technical and business point of view, it makes more sense to homogenize features instead of keeping two distinct functionalities. As the store continues to grow it's library, it's going to get new users and those new users want some of these new features, there is no way around it.
Indeed, no way around calling non-optional crap optional. Like someone else recently said in one of these threads, at least Steam doesn't pretend to have our interests in mind. Here lately GOG brings this movie scene to mind.

Gotta go - need to find some Koolaid to drink..
Ok.

It's nice to see some new things being implemented. I'm curious to see how everything settles out. It looks like a lot to get used to all at once but I definitely like the addition of features like custom tags and improved sorting options.

But seriously. Every privacy setting ever should default to the highest level of privacy at the start. Why wouldn't it be that way? Otherwise you are assuming I want to share my wishlist and chat with random people without actually asking me or getting my permission first. Don't do that. I do not want to do that. I want to have full control of privacy from the start.

If I want to game or message with someone, I want to do that with people I know and choose to communicate with. Not randomly anyone and everyone.
Just checked, and everything looks nicer... I wish I could change the skin of my library though. But what bothers me is when I check "Chat" all I can see is: "You have no active conversations".

So... where are my past PMs (o_O)?

in your library in list style there is a tab after MODE called TAGS, there you can pull up whatever tags you made plus the standard ones and it will then sort those games out for you.

more thoughts:
while I liked the old box view I had increasingly used it less and less due to the volume of games i have, it was just easier and faster for me to use list view. however, I would like to see the old style back as it just was so satisfying to just look at your 'shelf' of games from time to time.

for others like me that are bemoaning the loss of manual sorting, I made sure to tag all games in the order that I like them just in case (and hope that tags dont get lost in future updates)

Ah, but still letting it do the sorting for you then? I'm wanting to change the order of the sort so that games in a collection are together when I look at the overall shelf. I could tag them and might do so as a partial workaround.

EDIT: OK, maybe I'll understand the tag sorting you mention better when I have time to try it.

A question for those who have successfully used tagging as a proxy for the old manual sort:

What if I have my games all sorted in the order I want them. Then a new release in the series comes along -- say Monkey Island 3. I want this next to Monkey Island 2 and before Tales of Monkey Island for obvious reasons. Does this mean I now have to go back and re-tag EVERY game that comes after it on the shelf to keep them in proper order?
