Starting today, your My Account is completely new - remade and redesigned from scratch to better support our growing library of games and many of your biggest requests. Aside from every usability fix we could think of, we've also introduced brand new tools to keep your library organised, and new social features to stay in touch with your friends.

The list of new features is long, but you can see the whole thing on our forums. The most important highlights include:

--Support for friends lists and chat.
--Shared wishlists.
--Advanced filtering and custom tags for your library.
--A new, detailed order history.
--Accessible game changelogs.

We're sure that these new changes will greatly improve your overall user experience on GOG.com, and we can't wait to hear what you think on the wishlist and right here in the comments!

I haven't read the whole thread.

My impressions:

HATE the new shelf. The old one was part of the beautiful charm of the site. This looks texty and crappy.

And guess what? No manual sort means "Akalabeth" has no way to get back to my Ultimas, and alphabatizing is still hopelessly borked. Black Mirror II, then III, then I. Broken Sword out of order, and that's just page 1.

OH YEAH, where the F*** are the rest of my games? They're spread over 6 pages. No more one shelf. Ugly ugly ugly ugly ugly.

And... uh, where are all my messages? GONE! GONE! I needed those!!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH

Orders page is great, though.

I'm fuming at this change, I don't give a damn whatt the advantages may be due to the first two things I see, totally destroying what I spent hours organising to my personal preference.

My custom arrangement is just destroyed without asking me at all, if thats OK wit me or even warning me it was coming.
Worse, I now have no choice at all about how my library is arranged.

It's just the Store page for what I've bought, i don't want the store page in my friggin Library, I know what's there and I knew where it was until today.

Seriously GOG where's the optional in this rubbish.

Give me control of my library back, give me the option not to have this, at the very least let me organise my games my way, not just last bought or Alphabetical.

I cant even group a Game series now if the names don't match.

BIg fail here and not the best way to launch Galaxy, the so called Optional Client, giving fewer options than before.

Fesin: i also just discovered that you can't stream movies anymore. Is this new?
Wtf?

That certainly is new.

hyperagathon: Same problem here, PMs are gone, there's nothing under Chat. Do you seriously expect me to "friend" people just to get this back? Some of them don't even use GOG anymore, how do you figure that will work?
According to this link that moonshineshadow shared with me, the PMs will be returning. It seems there was an issue keeping them sorted properly when transitioning to the new Chat system. When they will be back exactly...no one knows.

wolfenspiel: Now, if the site made everything OPTIONAL, or designed all these changes for those who play multiplayer and online games, leaving everything just as it was for those of us solo players, THAT would be much more agreeable. As it stands, however, 80-90% of my games are classics, and solo play, and all these changes are turning GOG into the same sort of sites I AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! I'm not antisocial, I just prefer my "social" gaming to be face to face over a table, or for digital, simple fighting games or SSX Tricky over a PS2 console, 2-player, in my livingroom!
avatar
Gersen: I am an offline and solo player too and don't care about achievements or similar "social" things either; but honestly apart from the removal of the manual sorting and boxart/shelf view which, I understand, can be annoying for some, all the rest is optional and doesn't really change anything compared as before.
We're kindred spirits, boys! I agree with EVERYTHING you both said 1000%! I avoid any and every game that (a) requires me to be on-line to play it and (2) requires me to interact with a bunch of anonymous 14 year olds whose only joy is going out of their way to ruin my gaming experience. I'm here for the classics and for new solo-play adventure games that I can download and play at my leisure (whenever that is). Since physical games are no longer a possibility, I prefer having all my games in one virtual place, not spread out over different sites/vendors/systems whatever. GOG was always SO far superior to Steam for all of these reasons. Now -- not so much.
PROS:

1. I can read all the titles easily.

2. It's faster.

3. I can sort by Genre, System, etc. (This is good because when Windows 7 is at end of life, I'll be on Linux exclusively except for old games.)

CONS:

1. (This is the big one.) I WANT ALL OF MY GAMES ON THE SAME PAGE. (I have 385 games, and even if I had all 1084 games, I'd still like the option to have them all on the same page.)

2. There is no teak-backed bookcase. (I really liked that.)

3. The aspect ratio on the boxes is all screwed up. They need to be taller.

Fix the cons and then I'll say well done.

I've been here for a while and this is the first time that i see a locked thread, usually it just gets deleted. Is this new? (And kind of weird to close that thread, i don't see anything wrong with it that deserved to be closed)
This is a weird place to post this. But I'll respond.

They usually lock threads if the OP asks them to be locked or if the thread goes nowhere fast. There may have been something lost in translation, but it sounded like you were asking how to spend money for the next 3 days -- which is something nobody can help you with.

If you're looking at budgeting as a whole, I am of the Dave Ramsey camp -- get out of debt, spend as little as you can until you're out of debt, and then keep spending as little as you can. Materialism takes a lot of money and time and effort, so I try to avoid it (though I fall into common pitfalls myself).

I would recommend looking at what money is coming in, what money must go out, trim what must go out, put some money aside for savings, have a set amount of fun money that you don't go over, and then put whatever is left into paying off debt or investing.
Aside from the Order History and Game Art/Picture, there's nothing really else I like of this change haul. Sorry.

As stated numerous times by people here, the removal of manual sorting and actual shelfs are the two biggest let downs/disappointments. Not to mention Theme of Games Library is gone. No Theme is sad.

No Manual Sorting, Shelf, Theme are the three disappointments. :(

I have too agree to the common impression.

The new shelf looks cheap and sleazy, the manual sorting is inoperative(after having just completed my entire list two weeks ago) and you have to browse through various pages.

The worst thing is, that this change came totally unexpected. Was this announced beforehand?
So much for Galaxy is totally optional...........

At least Steam wouldn't pretend to have the user's interest at heart!

Martek: It doesn't!
They said something like this back when they released the new fresh look. I still feel that statement from back then is very untrue. I have a feeling this will be another round of the same let down feeling.

Thanks. I actually read that carefully when it was posted, but as the post says, they forgot to mention this one little detail.

jadeblackhawk: I'll be happy with a mobile friendly site when I can play all my games on my 42 inch smartphone. Until then I like sites for PC games to be PC friendly.

I don't like the changes to my account. I'll come back in a week and see if they've been fixed into something usable.
Based on the last round of changes, don't expect anything to change this time either.

Yeah, i was going to make a thread about it but i thought it was related to this new update and i didn't want to make a thread for something pointless like that, i was just curious because it was the first time that i saw that and i thought they were also changing the forums (</3).
Oh, and that isn't my thread, lol. ;)

Locked threads aren't new. I suspect that in this case, the original poster requested that it be closed. I can't imagine that gog would have bothered with it otherwise.
Where are the boxes on my shelf? I liked the shelf with boxes look. Can we have it back?

I do like the sorting options and the tags, however. Well done! ... But please give us back the nice shelf look!
