Worry not, most, if not all, people, visit France for its beauty, the art, tourism in one word; PLAIN tourism! For *sex* tourism, there are other pilgrimage routes, far, far away from europe... Also, moniker of Paris is "The City of Love (and sex)", because French people are (said to be) hot, open minded, artistic, creative and know how to both value and pursuit, good life and its small pleasures, even treating them as a token of art! Never did i though that someone from France would "need" a prostitute as a profession and honestly, i seriously wonder how they made a profit there, as a profession. French are very liberal people, or so i think.

catpower1980: ....Forget about terrorism, today, a bigger thread has emerged.... :FEAR:.....

Well, if you don't follow the news, today the French politicians have finally voted the law punishing prostitutes's customers. Now if you get caught with a woman/man/trans prostitute you'll be fined 1.500€ and it will be 3.500€ if you get caught a second time. So, no paid sex anymore if you want to "spice up" your trip in the land of Frenchies (of course you can still try seducing in bars and clubs). You can thank the left party who thinks "there is no consent if money is involved" (time to put a joke about marriage, hum.....)

Naturally, all countries around are still civilized and caring about freedom of choices (even if they're not the best).

From Brussels with love.....XOXO (knew her from the streets before her porn career)

For GOG'ers outside EU, a very good documentary from my country (mix of English, French and Dutch spoken) so you can get a glimpse of how it goes behind the scene

I think that is driven by money.

The US divorce industry get 50 to 175 billion a year.
more then 40% of marrige end in divorce

If you are seeing a prostitute instead of marrying, how can the government get your money?

I don't know much about French rate but in the UK marriage rate plummet due to horror stories that the women get 80% of the asset.

Or even 90% asset go to the wife

the reasoning is because the 51 year old husband’s very substantially larger earning capacity into the future. Even the remaining 10% shall go to debts and maintenance.

Whew! Good thing I didn't book that flight after all. I was all set to get up to my eyeballs in cobra whiskey and lady-boy hookers.

Now that France is off the list I 'm guessing I should try... Vatican City?

InfraSuperman: "I do not understand why prostitution is illegal. Why should prostitution be illegal? Selling is legal. Fucking is legal. Why isn't selling fucking legal? You know, why should it be illegal to sell something that's perfectly legal to give away? I can't follow the logic on that at all. Of all the things you can do to a person, giving someone an orgasm is hardly the worst thing in the world. In the army they give you a medal for spraying napalm on people. Civilian life, you go to jail for giving someone an orgasm. Maybe I'm not supposed to understand it."

- George Carlin
Considering that 9/10 women are forced into prostitution and not out of there own choice, this quote is total BS.
Ummm,I can see where this is going.

ShadowWulfe: I've never seen the appeal of hiring a prostitute, but it's not my place to negate that kind of a transaction for other people.

Why do governments care so much about prostitution? Is it religious? Is it impossible to tax even when legalized? It's difficult to understand the obsession some people have over what other people do with their genitals.
I believe it has to do with the human trafficking/slavery associated with prostitution and pimps keeping prostitutes against their will, mistreatment and abuse of the prostitutes.
It's a civil rights issue.

Because prostitution is handled from the underworld. And government loose taxes, as well as they are unable keeping thorough tracks and records from the inside-out of this "profession" (strict surveillance in two words, is impossible). Government couldn't care less about religion (since we don't have theocracy, unlike others), public health (since in many countries health care system is abysmal, like here) or societal ethics (no need to analyze that one). It's all about the green or paper. Nothing else. Zero.

Something tells me the human trafficking rates would fall to acceptable levels if governments just granted sex workers the same employee protections that everyone else takes for granted, including the right to form unions.
Honestly, though, i never understood why prostitution "has" to exist. Especially today that we have protection measures and anti-conception methods, as well as more freedom and liberal lifestyle in both life and society, one way or another, everyone can get laid. Seems that freedom is like virtual reality at the end of the day then, huh? Conservatism and social hypocrisy, as long as those exist, things like prostitution will be forever on high demand, alas...

Ummm Bradley, prostitution is known classically as the "Worlds Oldest Profession".

It predates all of your isms and it will outlive all of them, and it will always be in demand. :P

Exactly. But today, it is believed to be at least, that society is very liberal, sexual freedom exists, equality of the genders exist and so on... Since there is "freedom" and "sexual liberty", as well as "education, precaution and health-awareness", shouldn't then prostitution today fall into obscurity and become UNNEEDED, antiquated, irrelevant, to modern societies and their needs? -Is my rhetorical question and helpless wondering.

What i want to say, is: "Bottom line, modern society is STILL conceited, full of hypocrisy, double and triple standards, EVER conservative and oppressing people's liberties, rights and freedoms, hence professions like prostitution STILL exist".

And: "Every man wants to get laid, but if their daughter/sister/cousin want to get laid, then they suddenly turn into angry bull-dogs and lock them home". Or: "Friends call the man who banged a badass, but a girl who got laid, slut".

Life is so hypocritical and unfair. It makes me sick. Everyone praises equality but there are layers of multiple standards EVERYWHERE! As well as control freaks who want to do something, but prevent others from doing the exact same thing!

TARFU:
Right, so wouldn't regulation of the industry make it that much easier to control for that? It's not called "the world's oldest profession" for no reason. Whether it is legal or illegal, it will exist.

Driving the industry into the realm of pimps via criminalization only enhances their ability to "traffic" as the euphemism for slavery is these days.

blotunga: Meanwhile in the Netherlands they legalized weed and prostitution. Now their main problem is that they have to close some jails because they have nobody to put in them.
Fun Fact: In Belgium, we have so much prisoners that at one point, our state had to rent cells for our prisoners in Dutch prisons :o)

anothername: FKK = Freie Körper Kultur = Free Body Culture; usually at some beach marked for it... Once you saw it its highly; very highly, unlikely you'll search for kinky pictures in that direction. Such a beach is usually NOT filled with pornstars and top models ;)
Well, do a google search for FKK and name of a big German city, and you have a listing of the clubs around (and reading detailed reviews of what goes on inside leaves little to imagination). I'm quite surprised you weren't aware how the term is "marketed" nowadays.

Since when are politicians concerned with virtues and morality? To be perfectly clear, there are always a few good apples among the gazillions of rotten ones, otherwise there would be nothing to rot. In other words, there most definitely are some caring politicians throughout the world and I am not used to talk about the politics and such, so I am taking sort of neutral stance as I always do.

Shoot me if I talk too much about politics and do not encourage me.

So my idea for the quote here is that I believe they chose to ban paid sex for either of three reasons:
1. Because there is an illegal money flow from which politicians can't get a cut "for tax purposes"
2. To look more appealing for citizens and get a bigger mass of supporters by doing least work possible
3. To get a better kick out of forbidden paid sex themselves. Some politicians still do hire "escorts", rights?

I like this idea. Like George Carlin said: selling is legal, fucking is legal - selling fucking should also be legal. I think the very first thing as to why your suggested plan couldn't be realized, is because it would anger the religious and some overzealous groups. And there are many religious people. No way around them. Easier to "ban" paid sex and deal with it silently.

But... If the plan was realized... That might yield some positive results. There are still factors like human morale, certain virtues and all that, stopping men from getting a quick one. I guess social media wouldn't support the paid sex as the best thing ever, making it a trend. So... Legal paid sex would exist, but it would have to also be professional in a way. Women should be medically checked, clean, and protections should be issued for free.

And it might be easier to limit/stop paid sex from here. Make it legal, but apply huge taxes for various purposes. And now you have an easy legal way to put every illegal pimp to jail. Also, alternatives on life choices should be provided for women, so they wouldn't be just thrown rocks at and turned away from.

There must always be alternatives! Nothing can just be "banned".

Selling fuck is illegal. Because fuck is a goods that society has to allow for it being provided for free to and shared among its members freely. It is a human right to be able to fuck. It helps psychological and biological health get better even, makes the mood better, regulates and controls hormones and basic brain functions/stability, helps relax and shoo anxiety, most importantly without fuck there is no life, no society, no new society members.

Prostitution's existence is the live testament to society's failure and hypocrisy, its two timing and two facing of society members, of double standards and holier than thou crap. With "ethics" as a pitiful excuse, people are manipulated into a life of lies, restrictions, guilt-ridden nightmarish control so as to be "pure", so this ugly mess gets born, prostitution and trafficking, by which many people suffer and are forced to be peddled as "goods"... People are led to not live their life in to the fullest and enjoy it, which causes inconvenience, then others are abused so the first group can satisfy their desires, which also causes inconvenience.

Prostitution should be banned but at the same time, people lay off the high horse and let some more loose margin to societal and humane freedom. Damn!
