"3D Realms’ FPS-Focused Digital Event Realms Deep Aims for August 13-15

AALBORG, Denmark - July 7, 2021

Realms Deep, 3D Realms’s shooter-focused digital event, returns for a second year filled with world premieres and special guests, from Friday, August 13 through Sunday August 15, with a live show airing at 10:00AM PDT on August 14, on the 3D Realms Twitch channel.

This year, Realms Deep also includes “The Vault”, filled with talks, interviews, lessons and great discussions with some of the brightest minds in the first-person shooter industry. The Vault content will unlock throughout the weekend!

Prepare for three days dedicated to all the latest old-school shooters, newer shooters and everything in-between. Some non-shooters might even sneak in! Realms Deep 2020 featured 40+ games including the Hexen-inspired GRAVEN, Ion Fury’s Aftershock expansion, and Postal: Brain Damaged.

This year’s event plans to more than double the fun with 100+ titles worth of reveals and updates. 3D Realms invited their friends with announcements from Slipgate Ironworks, Devolver Digital, 1C Entertainment, Running with Scissors, New Blood Interactive, HYPERSTRANGE, and more.

Realms Deep returns with deep-dives, lessons, keynotes and discussions, with classic industry icons and legends as part of The Vault, throughout the weekend. These names will be revealed leading up to the show! Tune in to hear from a new generation of developers, like MK Schmidt (Star Explorers, Paradox Vector), Damjan Mozetič (Call of Saregnar), Scumhead (Vomitoreum), and many more.

In addition to some super secret debuts, expect updates on GRAVEN, dark-fantasy action adventure WRATH, and Ion Fury Aftershock. Ivar Hill continues to work with 3DR and prepares to provide exciting news on Core Decay, an immersive sim inspired by classics like System Shock and Deus Ex revealed at last year’s Realms Deep.

Just like last year, proceeds generated by exclusive Realms Deep merchandise available during the show all go directly to Child’s Play.

"We had an amazing time at last year’s Realms Deep sharing not only what we’ve been working on all year, but our friends’ projects too,” said Frederik Schreiber, co-owner of 3D Realms. “We hope to see Realms Deep grow each year, and we hope shooter fans swing by and hang out!"

Realms Deep 2021 begins on the Realms Deep website on Friday, August 13 through August 15, with a live show airing at 10:00AM PDT on August 14 on 3D Realms' Twitch channel. For more information, visit the official Realms Deep website, follow 3D Realms on Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube, join the team’s Discord and check out the official 3D Realms website."

Recap of 2020's event
An advert for an energy drink?

Uhm, no.
Doesn't your browser of choice give you a little preview of the link's url when you hover over it (usually via a pop-up on the bottom left edge of the screen)?
Not a recap per se anyway, just a list of the games that were showcased.

Be nice if this meant we would soon be seeing some more 3D Realms stuff at GOG, especially old classics like Duke Nukem and expansions.

I won't hold my breath though.

Until then, you can get some Duke Nukem at least, at the ZOOM Platform ... pretty much what used to be available here at GOG, and still DRM-Free.
I'm so curious what they have in store for us this year regarding the Turok series. Will it be a PC port of Turok 3? Will it be Rage Wars or Evolution? Will it be a completely new game? I can't wait to find out. Also I really hope some games like WRATH: Aeon of Ruin or Ion Fury Aftershock will be getting a release date finally. Would also be great to hear some news about the Kingpin, SiN and ROTT Remasters. There's a lot that can happen this year.

Thought you were talking about Recap of 2020's event, which points to:

and definitely has nothing to do with adverts or energy drinks.

Duke is not working for 3D Realms anymore. He's now Randy Pitchford's bitch which means we'll never see a Duke game here until Gearbox loses the license.
Last year's event made me hyped about Core Decay. Looking forward to this.
Ion Fury was an excellent experience. I may check this out and see what else they may have that I will be into.

No. I was talking about Recap of 2020's event, which has a link to the said recap, from which I took that capture.

True - still don't see why it's even worth pointing out that the 2020 event was apparently sponsored by sugary piss water brand X and therefore had quite a bit of product placement happening.

Some people, myself included, prefer their entertainment advert and heavy product placement free. If you're ok with it, fine, you're not my target demographic. I'm just doing what I wish more people would do. Provide a warning so that people have a choice going in. Look at that capture again. I see at least 22 cans of said product on display, with the brand name superimposed on the screen twice throughout. If you don't call that advertising, then you are beyond help, friend.

Don't get me wrong, I despise product placement (light and heavy) as much as the next guy, but for me it doesn't spoil it to that point upon which I, in this particular instance, would have skipped watching the event altogether.
I guess I'm either too used to it or have a high tolerance when it comes to things like that. And that I apparently have yet to tune into and watch something so unbearably and obnoxiously overladen with adverts/product placement that it would make me turn it off instantly.
