For anyone looking for a deal on the anthology on steam before it is removed:
bundlestars.com sells it in a bundle with other games for a few bucks.

You need steam to download so not fully drm-free. Unfortunately this blocks me from buying but I don't judge others.

Not trying to shill here, or anything, but Bundle Stars is currently offering a bundle (Killer Bundle 6) that includes a key for the 3D Realms Anthology on Steam for $4.99 if anyone wants to get in under the wire.

Just another reason to hate Gearbox. Interceptor has been developing next Duke Nukem game but thanks to Gearbox it had to be changed to Bombshell (which will still be good hopefully) and now they want to took even the old games away from us.

The 3D Realms Anthology will also be removed from 3D Realms' site. If you don't want to bother with Steam, but you still want the Anthology, then you are in luck. The Anthology will be discounted by 75% for $9.99 till its removal. Unlike the Anthology on Steam, you'll also get Wolfenstein 3D and Commander Keen 1-5.

Yes, they are. And they come in either individual downloaders you can get from your 3D Realms shelf, or a package installer that installs everything.

Damn, I didn't know the package from the 3D Realms site includes Commander Keen. I got the Steam version from Bundle Stars recently but was a bit disappointed that the Keen games weren't among the selection. Then again, seeing that the 3D Realms website anthology also includes Wolfenstein 3D, I wouldn't be surprised if the whole package was not available for purchase to German customers anyway. :(

3D Realms only has the legal ability to sell those two games (Commander Keen and Wolfenstein 3D) on their site. Both of those games are missing from the Anthology on Steam, since id/Bethesda are publishing them there. In exchange, 3D Realms added some other games not present in their site (like Balls of Steel).

Who knows. Maybe they'll be featured in the next weekend promo or weekly staff pick before they are removed.
