Suddenly, I prefer the sound of "quests" rather than "resolutions". xD

As part of my ongoing mission to make my New Year's resolutions (quests!) a monthy thing for 2025, the time has come for me to respawn and march into March with my chin held high. It's clear that I need to tackle some unfinished business from the previous month. So, with those yet-to-be-completed quests tucked inside my inventory, I now have 31 days ahead of me to complete them all. I can do this! :)

Here are my quests for March 2025:

- Purchase two external hard drives.
- Back up EVERYTHING on my PC (for next month's Linux installation).
- Reset my body/health through fasting at least twice weekly.
- Read a book, from start to finish.

Hopefully, I'll stumble upon a great deal for those external hard drives. Never realized how much data I tend to accumulate, it's wild. xD As for the fasting, I've done it in the past and it really helped my body deal with issues such as inflammation or even to help get rid of sluggishness. Been eating way too much junk lately and I could use a clean reset. ;)

Anyone else want to tackle some quests for March 2025? If yes, I'd love to hear from you!

Wishing all participants good luck!
Make a better pizza!
I do have a slow intermittent fasting program i'm re-implementing in my daily doings.. skipping evening meals still is a thing though
also cutting back on smoking, not necessarily quitting but.... less usage of nicotine supplies \o/
Need to get an optometrist appointment set up, I have wisdom teeth surgery on the 12th, gonna try to pay my car off, and start trying to focus on me again.
As per one of my quests for March, I have completed a 16-hour intermittent fasting yesterday and another one today. I do drink plenty of water and herbal teas in the evening, when I find it incredibly challenging not to grab a snack! But on the positive side, I woke up hungry after completing these fasts (often I eat very late because of work and go to bed on a full stomach, so I am barely hungry in the mornings) and instead of feeling sluggish in the morning, my mind felt alert and awake. :)

I tend to work late (I love it because I'm not a morning person) and one of my biggest problems was eating dinner at 9:30 pm, sometimes even at 10 pm. I'm attempting to correct this, hence the intermittent fasting (at least for March, as a trial).

Cutting back on smoking is better than nothing. I've watched my friends struggle with this, so I know it's not as easy as it sounds. Wishing you the best with that quest! :)

Play a video game through completion.

The last one I completed this year was Unavowed, in early January.
Beware the Ides of March, and steer clear of Brutus and Cassius. All Hail Caesar!
Jesus Christ! It's March already! Missed February. Good luck and .... I will finish that DVD bookcase this month! Or not... quest
...finish my compositions before the year ends.
Quest, eh? Well, I guess I need to find a dragon to rob.

During the first week of March, I completed a 16-hour fast during 2 days. This week, the second week of March, I managed to complete the same 16-hour fast during 3 days. Looks like I may succeed this quest by the month's end. :)

As for backing up my data, I'm still waiting for a good deal on portable hard drives, but they are nowhere to be found. I'm a bit peeved about this.

Some good goals. Fasting is good for detox. Might I suggest "The Crooked Little Road to Semi Ever-After" by Heather Harpham? It's a good read and gives perspective. I first read it for Psychology 101, then again later. I think it's a good read.

edit: But please don't over-do the fasting. All in moderation okay? Talk to your doctor first please.

I've got to say this, I'm sorry. I don't mean to lecture, but take it from someone who's been there. I'm not a doctor and not qualified to give medical advice, but I've dealt with an eating disorder since I was 10. My weight has been up and down since then. I've been skin and bones twice in my life.

There were times I almost passed out cause I wouldn't eat for 3 or 4 days at a time. Have you ever seen an anorexic? They're half alive. You strip your body of vital nutrients, and you risk heart and health problems down the road if you do it too much.

I'm not trying to embarrass anyone or lecture. But I don't want anyone to get hurt. Don't listen to the Tik Tok trends or pop psychology, it's a bunch of garbage. Be smart about your health.

This is coming from someone who is a severe alchoholic, have been for almost 2 years, and I've been fighting this addiction for months (and I WILL overcome it one day). I've had some liver problems and other issues from it.

Honestly. I'm not trying to embarrass anyone, but when you say you want to fast *at least* twice a week, that concerns me. That's how eating disorders start. I recommend you talk to your doctor and see a therapist, and the three of you can coordinate and come up with a plan that's best for you. I'm serious. Don't take your health for granted. It's better to eat healthy than starve yourself (just my opinion).

Would you do that please? Honestly man. I'm not trying to embarrass or lecture anyone. I just don't want anyone to go through what I have. It sucks.

No need to worry about me, my friend. I love food and cooking waaaaaaaaaaay too much to succomb to starvation, believe me! LOL! ;) I do not suffer from any eating disorder, nor am I preaching or encouraging others to embark on a fast. Also, I'm fatally allergic to Tik Tok. :P This thread is not about me trying to sell fasting to the world. This is about me and part of my personal quest for March, between once to three times per week, and never more than 16 hours at a time (that is why it is called intermittant fasting). And, yes, I've consulted my doctor and he's okay with me doing this for a couple of weeks. ;) As I tend to overeat crap during the winter season, I'm only doing this to help jolt my body into shape and to feel fit for the arrival of Spring.

Honestly, I appreciate your concern. But I do feel like you are misinterpreting who I am and what I am doing. xD Nonetheless, your words of warning are very, very wise and I'm glad you've brought up your personal experiences, as it may encourage people to seek medical advice prior to embarking on a fad. ;) Like you said, nothing beats a healthy balanced diet.
