morolf: It's pagan, and pagan gods were demons.
Most christian/etc days of major observation(christmas/easter/etc) were co-opted from/borrowed elements from pagan traditions. They did this to get pagans to convert and join the flock, and smooth relations with the ones who wouldn't. That is why Jesus's birthday(which we actually do not know the date of) was set on a pagan "holiday", and the same was done with jesus's death-resurrection.

Also who says pagan gods are demons? Oh right.....other religions......it's not like they'd have a reason to lie, right?

If you don't believe they're demons, they're already well on the way to snatching your soul for their infernal master.

While I believe in souls, I do not think they are that easy to snatch away.

(Also sometimes I wonder if you just post such moralistic stuff to be silly or as a persona.....no offense intended, and feel free to correct any misconceptions if I make any)

LootHunter: Obviously, they can't make lists. Since no one can possibly predict what costume someone would see as inappropriate/offensive.
avatar
GameRager: They could still put a list of the ones most people cite/complain about and if someone else complained they could point to the list and say "we tried to be fair/nice".
And immediatley be accused of not trying hard enough or not being sensitive enough.

LootHunter: Actually, trick-o-treating have half-Christian origin.

Praying for someone's soul is pagan tradition? Really?!

Trying to blackmail people into giving away candy with threats of antisocial behaviour is.
But you're probably doing the same on Halloween, after all even your name indicates you're hunting for loot.

I don't celebrate Halloween. But when I'm interested in some topic, I always do research.

Initially, people asked for treats (food, money, etc) and promised in exchange to pray for the host's soul - and THAT came Christianity. Later, instead of promise to pray for soul, people started to perform some neat tricks to entertain their hosts and thus got more money and food, since many people value entertainment more than their souls. And only after that there came time, when instead of performing entertaining tricks, performers started to do some nasty tricks, if hosts weren't generous enough.

So, as you can see, "trick or treat" tradition evolved over the centuries, but it's roots are mostly Christian.

Interesting, I hadn't known that. So maybe Halloween wasn't demonic in origin, but has degenerated from its original state.

Everything the Catholic church does is demonic.
Upside down crosses, the pope is the antichrist so why wouldn't a holiday they invented be demonic too?
Also "Clown World"

Its the END TIMES of course its clown world?!

Has no one here read Revelations?

yikes.

Of course I have, it's the most hilarious part of the Bible.

All the times in history have been the end times, all the time. Sure, the cultural climate and polarization right now is insane, but it will pass just like everything else.

Pretty disturbing that my comments got downrated, seems demonic forces are active in the Gog forum as well.

At least you'd be covered as doing something in case someone complained, which helps when people do(and they often do with such things) complain.

Technically I believe some pagans(if not more) DO pray for other people's souls in their own ways, so it's not just a big religion thing.

They have been hitting many replies to my comments....especially in my threads.....either with a tool(which might auto low rate replies as well) or manually....sorry about that.

It's likely just a few people with alts/tools/too much time on their hands....many here are either friendly and helpful or just keep to themselves.
