CarrionCrow: Well, there's that one November thing we were kinda waiting and hoping for. Low odds, I'm sure, but I have to admit, I like the sound of winter weather shut-in madness Insomnia.

HypersomniacLive: IMHO, quite unlikely to happen. The winter (Christmas) sales are one major events, where every online store is competing for one's buck. And the Insomnia model is not embraced by all, I recall plenty of whining and cursing and whatnot in the relevant threads. Does GOG really want to send these people to other stores? Besides, Christmas season is traditionally a family thing, i.e. how many would be willing or actually have the time to stay glued to their monitors for hours and days?

My guess is that they're doing the Big Fall Sale instead of the Insomnia Promo for the simple reason that after analysing their data from the Summer Sale, they saw that it's more lucrative for them. And that's what it boils down to - people spending their money and feeling good about it; the forum interactions are nice, but not necessary for a sale to be (considered) successful.

I expect the Winter Sale to be a variation of this one, with a couple of new strokes here and there, and possibly with some Galaxy hype/ event attached to it.

TrollumThinks: At home: Picked up Mount&Blade and clicked on the stamp for W2,
Got to work, logged in: - stamp not showing up and M&B still saying 'get for free'
M&B is in my account so it must've worked, just wondering if the 'stamp' thing is cookie driven and I should be careful of where I pick them up (clicked it again at work to be safe).

HypersomniacLive: See here.
You're right, of course. Not wanting GOG to go out on a limb to that degree and get nailed at the end of the year by competition, either. At this point I figure we won't see another Insomnia until the spring, if then.
Oh well, if nothing else, they did something I certainly wasn't expecting. Was making a budget for December and SURPRISE! December's twin sister shows up. Go figure.

Niggles: Remember the last two Xmas sales? if i recall both times GOG sold games in bundles..............
avatar
HypersomniacLive: Last year they had those personal daily deals with the three boxes to pick from, remember?
ahhhh *those* boxes..

My guess is that they wouldn't want to run such an event twice a year anyway. It's also possible that the grand days of Insomnia are behind us, i.e. we may see an Insomnia Promo off-season within Q1 2015, but on a smaller scale.

You never know. As much as I like Insomnia, I like the idea of GOG getting stronger more. So whatever works best is what they should go with. Considering how much I've been able to expand my collection, I can't complain too much.
just got my email from gog about this here fall sale. better late than never? 0.o

I'm gonna say it was b/c it's a long way for email to travel from Poland to the US ;)
Aaannnd... nothing in my wishlist is on sale.

Swing and a miss.

What I said is not a complain, just a (of no interest to GOG and with no hard data to back it) analysis and estimation. Time will tell.

I didn't process your statement as any kind of complaint. More of an analysis, as you said. I was referring to the idea of becoming irate towards GOG because they didn't do the exact kind of promo I wanted them to do at the time, things like that.

I understand what you mean, getting angry at GOG would be a silly thing - we did get a sale and the DRM-free Big Fall Sale is a great one, no doubt. I'd have preferred an Insomnia Promo, but irate? No, more like a bit bored by the slow pace. (~_^)

Double check each item. Wishlist is a bit borked so to say....

I agree with you there. The pace is a bit on the sedate side. Fortunately, I've got almost as many things in my video backlog as I do with my games. Multitasking - pretty much always a good thing.
I was about to go to bed... but look! It's Blazblue Calamity Trigger sneaking up on a flash deal.

"We've secretly replaced the Insomnia sale's Heart Attack In A Can brand coffee with Captain Narcolepsy's Happy Fun Time Coma Juice! Let's see if they can tell the difference!"
I better grab BlazBlue now or well... sometime in the next 5-6 hours, maybe when it comes back around in the flash selections too... well. Ok.
Hi, new user here. Is the Witcher 2 offered here is the DRM-Free version? I already bought it on Steam before, however i prefer the DRM-free versions where possible and if it is one id like to take it but if its a steam key then there is no point in trying.
Thanks
