That's a lot of money for stupid useless crap... that could be done so much good in some legit charity or foundation of any kind.

Yeah, the things I could do with that kind of money. Pay off my student loans, get a better car, find an home closer to work.

I don't blame steam or even the sucker who did this. If I were programming this I would not consider that anyone would have such a large hole to burn in their pocket but spend this kind of money on virtual trading cards that you can't even play childrens' card games with. I hope Valve will throw the guy a bone, I mean if someone was willing to throw this kind of money around I would want to do something to keep him happy.
Hey far out! A shit load of Steam Cards just popped up on G2A!

sunshinecorp: Valve is making money by each and every electronic item and card sold in their community market. It keeps a fee for EVERY TRANSACTION, meaning that they have devised a lucrative way to make LOADS of MONEY from ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Even if you just sell the free cards you get by playing games, even then Valve keeps a small share of what you take. It's nuts. Apparently, if you look at the stats of the community market, there are countless of such transactions daily. Again: Valve is making money out of thin air. Why didn't I think of that first?!

Asbeau: It's not nuts, it's fucking GENIUS. People who want cards (and there are many of them) get cards. Valve and the publishers get a fresh stream of income for almost no effort. Best of all, people like me who aren't interested in cards get enough money to buy loads of games from selling trading cards and booster packs. EVERYBODY HAPPY!
Is there some trick to getting a booster pack? I've never randomly gotten one. Only from using gems to craft one. This is like with 20 or 30 games maxed on card drops and probably 2+ years.

SpooferJahk: He could have invested in a decent car, a better computer, heck even savings for a future education but instead used it on Steam trading cards...

Wow.
He spent 13,000 like it was nothing and has CSGO items that are easily worth 5-10k. What makes you think he doesn't already have a more than decent car or computer? I wouldn't be surprised if he has multiple expensive cars and computers.

skeletonbow: *snip*
I don't really have anything more to say as I pretty much agreed with all that you said. It's just that it's annoying that something as trivial as that even happened while it could have easily been avoided. It's not like balancing a game where changing one value could cascade down on to other things, ultimately messing everything up if you're not paying attention.

skeletonbow: Everyone has views that are optimistic about some things, pessimistic about others, but what I want to know, is why not be realistic all of the time. An optimist sees the glass as half full, while the pessimist sees the glass as half empty. I on the other hand am a realist, I see the glass as being twice as big as it needs to be in order to contain the amount of liquid that needs to be contained.

:)
Give it a bit more than another half and it will start overflowing, too.

;P
What are those Steam-Cards, it didn't exit the last time I used steam (which was several years ago)?

Still, using money wisely even at that level is still a better option, you may never know when it could end.

drewpants: This has damaged by brain a little, what is a steam card/badge and why on earth does money change hands for them? I've read the link but I just don't get this at all...

I'm too old methinks.

noir_7: Glossy page with fun pictures. Don't drink the kool-ade

Ah thanks. I can see that as being relatively interesting concept to follow, but to spend actual cash-monies on it? Really?

The Kool-ade should be left well alone.

I believe you need to have gotten all card drops for a game to be eligible for a booster pack to drop. You also need to log in at least once a week.
$13000. on. steam. cards.

Even if I was a very accepting steam person, this is...
