morolf: 12 seems a bit much, the question should be more focused imo.

I propose the following scenario: Gamer genocide has begun. The government in your country has made gaming illegal and is now actively hunting down any remaining gamers. You've been arrested by the secret police and are now awaiting your execution in some cellar. While you hear the cries of your fellow gamers who are beaten and killed next door, you're asking the guards: "May I play one last game, before I die?".
Out of curiosity they agree. Which game do you choose, to relive your fond gaming memories? And might you even be able to persuade the guards that gaming is all right and persecuting gamers an injustice? Might you even convert the guards to gaming?
In any case, you need to choose wisely.
I refuse to play into fascist power fantasy, sry. I'll stick to the original question:D

Your choice. But if it really happens and you can't come up with a game that would impress your guards, don't complain that Morolf didn't warn you.

Bah, if I would roleplay myself in real life, I would be Pathfinder Inquisitor with 7 charisma, so only way I can impress your guards is by intimidating them... or killing them.
If I was dying, I would probably just watch my wife playing Fatal Fury Special as the the curtains fade to black.
I'd do new campaigns in (1) Rome Total War and (2) Medieval II. After that I think I'd try beating (3) Donkey Kong Country Returns either on 3DS or Wii, I got about as far in both. After that I want to try and actually beat some RPGs like (4) Stella Glow, do a tag team run with (5) Fire Emblem Three Houses (the absolute only reason I even play this series anymore), (6) Atelier Ryza 2, and maybe a tales game, I have a few to choose from. However, I'd certainly try and do the first (7) Resident Evil Revelations either on Xbox or 3DS, once more I am about as far in both. Hopefully by that point Scarlet Nexus is out and I can play that, if not then I think (8) Grim Dawn Forgotten Gods, since Grim Dawn and Titan Quest are the toss up for favorite ARPG. Hopefully I'll be able to play (9) STALKER Clear Sky without it crashing the system, but if not then swap that with Metro Exodus. I'm thinking as I approach the end of the list I'd want some comfort food so (10) Yoshi's Island, (11) Super Mario Bros. 3, and (12) Metroid Zero Mission. Now, of course, if I had only so much time left I'd probably do something else... or not. It's mostly trying to decide what games I would prioritize if I had to. An anime bucket list might also be a real thing for me.
Well, if Death herself appeared before me and announced that she would take me after giving me time to start and complete a full playthrough of 12 games, I'm not sure which ones I would pick for the first eleven but the twelfth position would be something really really grindy, most likely P2W... and of course I wouldn't spend a single cent there.

Maybe this game would be WoW but I think a bit of research would show that there are even worse offenders out there in the MMO landscape.

Grindy P2W is fate worse than death.

I still have nightmares from booting up the remastered edition and entering this twilight lag zone ......

Maybe next year i have gathered enough guts/got rid of those horrid nightmares to try to start the thing up again
Better choice would be Neverwinter Nights with custom content ("custom content" including the myriads of fan-made adventures, campaigns and Persistent Worlds). ;)

Or any enjoyable game that is open ended and can not actually be "completed".

I hadn't considered that. Drats.

I would be afraid of Death considering that a single NWN campaign would count as a game completed, fanmade or not.
But open-ended games would definitely work. Simcity and Tropico series come to my mind. Problem solved, then.

All right, since I am in this thread long time without posting anything regarded to the topic, I'll post some games I would definitively replay if I have time.

1) Deus Ex; 2) Prey (2017); 3) Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines;

other titles to be added later.

As surprising as it may be, no. I get that he is a very good artist but I didn't have extensive contact with his work (not as easily available in South America for most of my life), and what little I did see didn't strike my personal preferences.

I based my idea on the regular trope of the Grim Reaper ready to take someone away, and sometimes getting challenged to any sort of contest with their life as the prize (see last two panels) , or realizing she is early and giving the "scythee" the opportunity to enjoy their final X hours/days.

Death is often a word of female grammatical gender. For example, in Croatian and most Romance languages I've heard it's always female.

Oh right, I can see now that carnival73 was commenting on my gender choice for Death. Yeah, it's like Mafwek said. Every language derived from Latin (french, italian, portuguese, spanish, romanian...) has gendered articles and every object is thus ascribed a gender. "The car" in portuguese is "o carro" (male), "the chair" is "a cadeira" (female). Death's article is female.

Also from what I know it was always common in media to portray Death as a female. For example in the Marvel Comics, Thanos's motivation for seeking the Infinity stones was because he was in love with Death, a female.

/offtopic

In any case, is my scenario more conducive to an answer than the "fascist power fantasy"?
